I was trained at the Luftlande- und Lufttransportschule (LL/LTS) in Altenstadt/Oberbayern (Automatik 1989, Freifall 1990), and yes, one had to have some cojones, although our equipment was modern and well-tested, BUT Dr. Koschel, with that primitive material? What a hero!

Generalfeldmarschall Hermann Göring presented Colonel Lindbergh with the Order of the German Eagle and a magnificent sword (surely a special edition) for Luftwaffe officers (Luftwaffenschwert) on 18 October 1938. Or maybe Göring is just showing him ones of his swords? Somehow looks like a Pour le Mérite handle. 

In order to extend his American and English pilot's license, Colonel Lindbergh visited the Fliegeruntersuchungsstelle of the Luftwaffe at the request of the American Embassy in Berlin and was examined by Oberstarzt Dr. Ernst Koschel. That would have been a sensational picture, but probably none were taken (trustworthy Arzt-Patienten-Verhältnis). 

You write "Charles E. Lindbergh", do you mean Charles A. Lindbergh? Thanks! What a great picture, but the Unteroffizier is not Lindbergh. He never had a hair cut like that, not even in 1938, when Göring presented him the the Order of the German Eagle with Star in October 1938.

Gentlemen, I have read a lot about Gustav Adolf Graf von Götzen (1866-1910), especially about his time as Governor of German East Africa. But what about his military career (2. Garde-Ulanen-Regiment). When exactly did he enter, when did he officially retire. Promotion dates, all decorations (maybe even the Orden des Strahlenden Sterns von Sansibar [El kaukeb ed dorri]?). All help is very much appreciated. 

Absolutely, and his son-in-law was Colonel Albrecht Erich Eberhard Friedrich von Warburg (1903–1945), married to his daughter Elisabeth Charlotte "Liselotte" Adolphine Friederike Lindeiner genannt von Wildau (1911–1980).

Sitting here is also an "Exzellenz Sachs" ... could that be Generalleutnant Wilhelm von Sachs (1859–1936). If yes, can anyone supply some information on his career? Thanks!

Could it be that Rittmeister Otto Schönberg, Oberbeamter der Ansiedlung zu Langgoslin, was his uncle? If yes, then Generalleutnant z. V. Wilhelm Schönberg (HOH3X in WWI), also born in Langgoslin (1872), was his younger cousin. Or maybe Otto was his father? Then Wilhelm was his brother? Thanks! Andreas

Gentlemen, the later SS-Gruppenführer Richard Heinrich Glücks served with the  Clevesches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 43 and the Reserve-Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 13. Somehow the second ribbon (from left) does not look like the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer, am I seeing that wrong? Maybe the lighting? Wikipedia and other sources claim, he was Oberleutnant with the Reichswehr until July 1926, but I cannot find him in the Ranglisten (1925, 1926). Can anyone help out? Thanks.
