As i understand it this glider badge is a civil award ? a pre war French association (FIA) but internationally recognised so he may of been awarded before his commission into the navy ??
I am afraid Iron Cross collecting is not so simple 😛 as Orth along with others did use parts/stamps from other makers, though the cross looks fine from pictures provided. It is a nice cased example but a fairly common cross to enjoy 👍👍

to my knowledge there was no document actually giving the date to when crosses had to be dated with PKZ numbers but is generally believed to be late1942 ? to early 1943 unlike the LDO system in early1941.

A couple of weeks ( 3rd. May) ago there was quite a good program on BBC2 (U.K.) about the family company that makes the Red ceremonial uniforms for this coronation called "Coronation Tailors : Fit For a King".
