Many Thanks Rick, for the additional information and the portrait. I would appreciate, if you could change the title of this thread. The abbreviation PC in the Stammliste des Marine-Sanit?tskorps seems to mean the Prussian Centenar Medal. So the China Medal is missing in this Stammliste, but it is mentioned in the Ordens-Almanach and it make sense because of B?ses duty in China. Again we see, that even with the exactness of Prussian civil servants some little mistakes can happen. Best regards, Komtur.

Hi Claudio, thanks for sharing that extraordinary interesting pics of foreign decoration to swiss officers. The most interesting for me as "Prussian" is the first pic. But IMO there must be a mistake in the description. I read with my poor french: knight and commander of the REO awarded to Jean-Jacques de Beausobre. Isn?t the left order the 4th class of the Prussian REO type with lilac eagle awarded from 1830-1854 and the right one the Brandenburg knight of the REO awarded in the mid 18th century? How can one person got both of them? Best regards, Komtur.

Got this nice pic today (20 x 25 cm ), written on the back: Generalmajor Hermann Gropp Accordingly to Geile (Ordensverleihungen an Offiziere der preu?ischen Armee ... 1914-1918) Oberst Gropp got the KO2X on 21.11.1916 and the RAO2X as Generalmajor at the end of the war on 14.9.1918. If it is he, this picture should be from the time between. What could be the ribbon under the EK-ribbon? With regards, Komtur.

Only for the war 1870/71 it was determined, that persons could get the Crown Order 3rd or 4th class or the Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen with this special ribbon "Erinnerungsband" for merits behind the front. If they worked for the Red Cross, they got these decorations with Erinnerungsband and with the Red Cross on the order/decoration. So you can find on this ribbon "normal" KO3/KO4/AEZ and KO3/KO4/AEZ with the Red Cross but only awarded in 1872 and 1873. With regards, Komtur.

To confirm this clarification a picture of Reichskanzler Bernhard F?rst von B?low. You can see the Grand Cross of the Order of the Red Eagle with oak leaves on his neck and the star of the Order of the Black Eagle on his breast. On his sash must be the cross of the Order of the Black Eagle. With regards, Komtur.

Prof. Dr. Rudolf Ferdinand von Leuthold (1832-1905) Generalstabsarzt der Armee 1901-1905 I?ve scanned a short biography of him from the book "Die Kaiser Wilhelms-Akademie f?r das milit?r?rztliche Bildungswesen" by Schmidt 1910. Yes, he was high decorated with the Komturkreuz des Hausordens von Hohenzollern (this order is always with a crown ) and was for 4 years the highest military medical of Prussia and also for a few years the doctor of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Hi Paul, I believe both lists are very usefull. I?ve got originals and it was not tooooo difficult to get them by German searching sites for second hand books (1918 Navy about 100 Euro, 1924 Reichsheer about 40 Euro). It may be, that the response to this thread is not so good, because the interested collectors have originals and the other don?t want to spent money for originals or for cheaper copies. May be, it is also the question that one want to have the "real thing". I often use my reprint of the "Ehrenrangliste des ehemaligen Deutschen Heeres von 1914", but I thougt it over to buy an original of that, even if it makes no difference in the content and use... best regards, Komtur.

We talked today on the Berlin Militaria B?rse about this question. A well informed collector was sure, that every person serving in 1897 and before in a Prussian unit, was entitled to the so called Zentenarmedaille. As I suggested before, Schuon could wear this medal because of his studies 22.10.1885 - 15.3.1890 on the "Kaiser Wilhelms-Akademie f?r das milit?r?rztliche Bildungswesen" in Berlin (See his entry in the Stammliste der Kaiser Wilhelms-Akademie 1910). This academy was responsible for the education of the Prussian military medicals. From 1872 also persons from W?rttemberg could study there. They change from this Prussian institution to the Sanit?tskorps of the W?rttemberg army after studies. The last building of the "Kaiser Wilhelms-Akademie" still exists in the center of Berlin (Invalidenstra?e). With regards, Komtur.
