    1. French Medaille militaire probably
    2. I would imagine that there many already known manufacturing/production techniques of original orders decorations and medals used by their original manufacturers, databases or similar already to some degree already exist although not in a centralised form, the possibilities of using such technology could be used for comparison, although at the moment the practicalities need to be examined, tbh any way of stemming the growing problem of increasingly accurate fakes is to be welcomed, yoy only need to read some of the threads on GMIC, to realise the problem, just a thought. Regards
    3. Hi, good way of sorting out the fakes??? https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2024/jan/27/manufacturing-giant-develops-revolutionary-system-to-detect-counterfeit-art

    6. Hi all, ive been reading this thread with interest, he was certainly flamboyant! This image has been posted before and ive been studying it closely, think ive found a question, regarding his golden fleece, based on my assessment of the image, he appears to be wearing only the bottom part of the decoration suspended from what i can see as heing black string!, secondly, the fleece itself has the appearance (to me) as a bejewelled version, not the typical type he was awarded, does anyobe know if he had a jewelled example? Regards Edit, i think ive answered my own question 😄
    7. Yes, king ferdinand certainly liked his uniforms and medals, a few colourisations i did some time ago

    10. Just seen thi thread and getting back to original post if i may, i have this example wherectge swords appear to be on tge reverse side of the medal, not tge obverse as indicated on other examples posted, also they appear to he well fitted as if they were integral, any comments welcome

    13. Hi, thanks for the quick response, so it WAS the Royal Victorian Order after all, i suppose that at the time it was awarded, ww1 hadnt got in the way, appreciate your input Regards Alex
    14. Hi all, another puzzle concerning decorations. Attached is an image of Oberst Eduard Bornhausen, regarding his medal bar, all seems fairly straightforward... Except for the last one after the Bulgarian order of military merit, I'm at a loss to recognise what it is and nationality, to me (at least) it actually looks like grade of the British Royal Victorian Order which seems unlikely, (but anythings possible I suppose! ) all the others are easily identified, so, anyone got any ideas, as usual all help appreciated Regards Alex k
    15. Hi, amazing, thanks for filling the rest in, much appreciated Regards Alex k
    16. Hi, thanks for the confirmation, i suspected it was the st lazarus, now just for the, rest, which may or may not be italian. 🙁 Regards, alex
    17. Hi all, i would like ask for assistance on the above individual, hes always been a bit of a mystery, however it would now seem that his demise seems has been confirmed as april 1945, and his remains interred in a jewish cemetery of all places. My query is the ribbon bars shown on tge attached image. The top row are quite easy as they are fairly standard imperial/tr awards, the bottom row are the ones in question as they appear to be non-german. The only one i can recognise is the 2nd one, which to me looks like the Italian order of the Crown. Any experts abke to advise on the remaining visible ones? Any help appreciated, sorry for the limited quality images. Regards Alex k

    19. Hi, I could be completely wrong but it reminds me very much of the attached, 10 pin bowling trophy, a very popular activity in Germany in the 1st part of the 20th century I understand
