    1. Hi carol I, there does appear to be four stamps on the ring of the commander class. As I said in my original post, I need to look at them more closely, I'm sure when I'm in a better position to make better images, it will become clearer. with regards to the 4th class, I am quite happy to accept that the ribbon is not, authentic, it is in fact a modern repro, I have had my doubts about it for a while, this being said it was supplied at the time as the correct one, the award came without any. I would appreciate therefore any assistamne which could point me in the right direction of indicating or obtaining an original and correct ribbon for this piece. BTW the 1st class grand star sash badge is stamped on the suspension ring "ARE, IRF, don't know if that helps.

      thanks for the comments

      regards

    2. Another addition to my collection, the Romanian Order of the Crown first type, commander, unfortunately without ribbon. (Does anyone know where I can get ribbons, original or even, dare I say it :speechless1: modern. I am being increasingly drawn to eastern european awards for their inherent beauty. This comes with several hallmarks/stamps on the ring, which as yet I havn't been to identify.

    3. Hi Hunyadi, quite right, when I compare prices for the two Knights bought several years ago with the Officers?(Only?one?shown,?the?other?is?military)?purchased last week, I know that the officer's is rarer and will command a correspondingly higher price than the Knights, but WOW, significant increase.

    4. The attached photo taken by Vladimir Grebnev, entitled "The Reichstag, from the cellar of Himmler's house" shows that the house was close to and vitrually infront of the reichstag.

Looking at Google earth for a similar area, does anyone know of the actual location of his house? does the road still exist or has it like many others been totally rebuilt?

      regards

      Alex

    5. obverse rims are positively souval, distinctive beading at the corners, does not look like a floch reverse, certainly not a post war floch. My personal opinion, is a genuine period souval cross, the 23 may well be the official Prasidialkanzlei Numbers, not LDO numbers which Souval was L/58 and signified authorised private purchase manufacture.

      just my opinion

      attached period Souval
