    1. You gotta love these engraved crosses, you get a little bit of the personal history as well. Jim P
    2. Thats a nice parade mount Frank,I had never seen one with both the N. Africa and Ost front medals on the same bar. Great piece, Jim P
    3. That was kind of my thought too.As if the author was trying to lend provenance to his piece by putting it in his book. Jim P
    4. Here is my silver marked l/56 for Wachtler A Lange of Mittwaida. Jim P
    5. Here is a picture of what it is supposed to look like from the book"Combat Medals of THe Third Reich".The author goes on to say one was brought back by his uncle in 1948,but I find that highly suspect. Jim P
    6. Here is the best shot I can get of the makers mark.
    7. Here is the one wound badge I have.It is a black grade hollow back with pin missing. It does have a makers mark below the swaz on the reverse, but the I can't quite make it out.looks like the last digit is a 7.Any thoughts on who the maker may be? As always thanks, Jim P
    8. Any thoughts on the makers marks? I have not been able to locate much info on this style of sword, most web sites are dedicated to the samurai sword. Thanks,Jim
    9. I just received this in the mail today from a friend of mine.It is an upgrade to replace the one I had previous. The zink oxide was slowly eating away my old one. There may be better ones out there, but this is the most mint "fozen meat"medal I have ever seen.Hope you like it, Jim P
    10. Here are some of the helmets I have displayed right now.The ss helmet was a relic conditon M-35 fs 66.I still haven't been ableto get the color good enough to suit me.I normally wouldn't have whent to so much trouble with a rusted out old helmet, but I felt it didn't deserve being turned into someones new toaster. Regards, Jim P
    11. And finally 2 generations at the EK family reunion. This really showws what my goals are,one nice clean example of each.I'm not asking much,I just want one clean example of everything. Jim P
    12. Thanks Richard, but you don't have to post another picture for me.I just made mention of the liner as I haven't seen that many fj helmets. It is amazing how well these german leather liners hold up over the years though isn't it.When I 1st started collecting,I passed on several reasonably priced helmets, because I thought there was no way 60 year old leather can look that good. The leather in my 42 is the softest, most supple 60+ year old leather I've ever touched.A little maintenance goes a long way in keeping everything squared away. I do love your helmet collection though.Right now I'm trying to get 1 example of each as money allows.I can't imagine having as many as you do anytime soon, especially the way prices are going out the roof. If you ever decide you have too many and wish to donate to a worthy cause,I happen to know the president of the "Jim Prewitt Historical Research and preservation society" HAHAHAHA Jim Prewitt CEO
    13. Here are the only marks I can find,on the base of the blade is a mark that I have not been able to find anything on.The 2nd picture is the marks on the scabbard. It has the #51 and a mark that is identical to ones found on bayonets to show Tokyo arsenal pre-39. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Jim P
    14. As you can see on the above grip ,there is a 10 petal cherry blossom as well as on the back of it below.Thats how I know it is army, police have a 5 petal blossom.
    15. This is the Japanese NCO parade sword I spoke of earlier. It has never been sharpened, the blade is in excellent shape, but the scabbard is pretty rusty,When I 1st got it the scabbard was 100% rust covered,A little WD-40 and some 0000 steel wool uncovered some of the original nickle plating. I haven't been able to find out a whole lot about it other than it is an army sword not police. all opinions welcomed, Jim P
    16. Here is the only "good" deal I've ever gotten off E-bay.Japanese NCO parade sword. $92 Before I started to make some contacts in the coolecting world ebay and antique stores sere my only source to "get my fix" of militaria. Most of what I got off Ebay I feel I overpaid for.I think the sword was the exception because the guy couldn't take very good pictures. I'll post the reast of the pics in the proper forum. Jim P
    17. Don you are enjoying this a little too much aren't you. This reminds me of Eddie Murphy Raw;"I got some ice cream and you ain't got none"etc.etc. I know how you feel though, the mail man is my adult version of Santa Claus, now if I can just figure out how to get him to pay for it as well as deliver.LOL JIm P
    18. That is a nice helmet Richard. Is it all original?I have only seen a few of these, and only over the internent.Outside looks just as it should to me,I was just curious about the liner, especially the pads. Most of the ones I have seen had the orange colored pads.To me almost all the german leather liners, the ones that have been taken care of any way, look like they're new.It must be the blonde color of the liner.Even my liner aside from the stain(blood)looks like it was installed yesterday.Whoever had it before me took real good care of it.Its amazing how soft it still is after all these years.Pecards is well worth the money. Love the helmet Richard, Jim P
    19. Rich, have you ever tried researching any of the names on the flags?
