    1. Hi gents! Does anyone know anything about this? Apparently only a handfull were awarded? What was it called?
    2. Hi Student, thanks very much for that link, that shop has got everything! SILBERNES ?RMEL-EHRENZEICHEN. Versilbert, 49x40 mm an Nadel/Splint. Trageweise an der Armbinde So does this mean it's a silver sleeve badge? To be worn on an armband? (my guess at translating!)
    3. Ok, thanks for that Richard, so do you think this is an armband badge? Is that the final consensus?
    4. Hi again, I have a Man?ver-medaille f?r das Corpsman?ver des III-en Armeekorps bei Hof i/B 1907, so do you think I should label my new one Man?ver-medaille f?r das Emperors 1909?
    5. Hi haynau, thanks for that translation, do you think then that this was called the Emperors-maneuver medaille 1909?
    6. Hello again gents, another unknown item has arrived! It was described as German 1909 medal, the pictures aren't the best but I hope they will suffice. If not, tomorrow morning I am off to my printers to get some new business cards made, and am taking most of my medals to have them scanned by the printer, who will burn them to a disc or put them on a memory stick for me, so hopefully they will all be on here soon! Is this the Kaiser and the Franz Joseph (?), it looks like German writing on the back on top and maybe Hungarian on the bottom?
    7. Hi Kevin, I tried to scan my collection, but it didn't turn out very well. I am going to my printers this week to get some more business cards done, and I'm taking them there to have them do the scanning. When they have finished scanning all my collection, front and back, I'll post the lot here soon.
    8. Alright Martin - the race is on! Down 60-27, can the pride of Sydney come back from behind and catch the pride of Essex? Game on!
    9. Thanks fellas, I got it for $20US through Gunbroker.com, along with my Tag der Arbeit 1934 tinnie.
    10. Thanks everybody! Uwe, this must be the second longest award name ever! Ehrenkreuz für die Witwen und Eltern gefallener, an den Folgen von Verwundung oder in Gefangenschaft verstorbener oder verschollener Kriegsteilnehmer. What does that mean in English please?
    11. Was the correct name for the Hindenburg Cross the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkampfer? I want to start a new section on my site and also to start a makers mark database here for the HK's, (I have 27 different makers so far) but I'm not sure as to the proper name of the award? I'm guessing the English translation for that is Honour Cross for Combatants or something similar? Also, just to push my luck, could anyone help me with the correct German names for the three different classes? Mit Schwerten für (combatants), Ohne Schwerten für (non-combatants) Ohne Schwerten für (widows?). Forgive my clumsly attempts at German! I have 23 swords, 2 no swords and 2 widows so far, and growing!
    12. Hi Hardy! I was just examining it under a magnifying glass and saw that! I have changed the text of my post but couldn't work out how to change the title! Thanks for that.
    13. Once more I'm afraid gents! This was described as 1934 Kinder Aufs Land Seltenes abzeichen, but I can't see the word Seltenes on the tinnie, was that a mistake in the description? Would this be properly called Kinder Aufs Land (Seltenes) abzeichen 1934 or 1934 Kinder Aufs Land abzeichen? Could anyone tell me what Kinder Aufs Land (Seltenes) means please? Thanking you again!
    14. Hello gentlemen, would the correct German title of this tinnie be Tag Der Arbeit 1934 or 1934 Tag Der Arbeit please? It's for my records, and i'm not sure if they use the date first or the name of the tinnie first:
    15. Yes, I know, yet ANOTHER plea for help! This tinnie arrived recently and I don't know if it had an exact name other than Hitler-Woche July 1932, or is this the correct name? It is 43mm by 30mm.
    16. Hi Ulsterman! I don't know if it is a cap badge, it measures 45mm high by 38mm wide. Sorry I don't have a reverse shot, but it has pin setup that looks like the ones found on wound badges if that's any help.
    17. Hello once more experten! This arrived today and I was wondering (again) what the correct German name for this medal was/is please?
    18. Good morning again gents! This arrived today, and I would just like to make sure I have the correct German name for this badge, it was described as Metallabzeichen Kyffh?userbund: 3 euros well spent!
    19. Hi Tom, it was SA who was selling the Desch & Sohn, oops, sorry, I mean the Resch & Sohn 1870 EK. This review of his is another shot across the bows in his ongoing war with EM! It carried over to the Axis History Forum where he joined up as two different members solely to continue this attack on EM. As I said before, I've bought off both so I'm not here to champion any one particular seller. I just wanted to make sure my non-maker marked EKII might be genuine even though it is not marked! I bought it from a non-ebay dealer, I'm happy with it.
    20. Hi Tom, yes, it is from a guide to spotting fakes on ebay from our friend who is selling the Desh & Sohn 1870 EK! I was just reading some of his guides, when I noticed that. I thought that was a lot of EKs for a start, I'm sure there were many more Hindenburg Crosses made than EKs, and Im pretty sure there weren't over 11,000,000 HKs made (or were there?), and I was unsure over whether every single EK was marked. I was pretty sure they weren't, but I was also pretty sure that just because it's unmarked doesn't mean it's not real, but thought I'd ask the experten! http://search.reviews.ebay.com.au/members/spitfire_ace_68
    21. Hello again gents, I read this recently, and being the learner, thought I'd ask you all about it: The best example and mot commonly stamped medal I have come across is the WW1 German Iron Cross. This medal came in two distinct classes, the 1st and 2nd class. Both classes were produced by private firms, who were under contract to the German Government during the war. When you consider that 11.7 million 2nd class crosses were produced during the period 1914-1918, all war examples were stamped with the initials of the manufacturer, such as K.O., S.W. etc, and in some cases had the silver content stamped to the suspension ring as well, such as .800 or .925 which recognised the silver purity of the medal frame. All copies I have seen and heard of have no stamp and therefore are not authentic. I thought that there were plenty of original 1914 EKIIs that were not marked? Or am I wrong? Thanks gents!
