Monday at the flea market I bought a box of paper items. In it was a photo of 2 G.I.'s standing on a Tiger tank. On the front of the tank was a shield/cross emblem. Anybody offhand know what unit it is? Rich A. in Pa.

Beretta model 1923 pistol was chambered in 9mm Glisenti. It was the 1st. in the Beretta line to have a external hammer. About 10,000 or so were made. Commericial,Military and Police types were produced.The pistol in the pic is gold plated/engraved with ebony grips. Trigger,hammer and safety are blued. It was made for Amedeo Savoia. Amedeo D.Savoia,Duke of Puglia,3rd. Duke of Aosta. He was commander in the East African campaign 1939-1941. He was cousin to King Victor Emmanual the 3rd..Born in 1898 he enlisted in the 4th.Calv. Div. in 1915.He was awarded bronze and silver medals for military valor. He returned to duty in 1925 and was posted in Libya. In 1931 Amedo joined the Regia Aeronautica and commanded fighter units. On May 3,1942 Amedo Aosta died in Nairobi,Kenya. The pistol is in my collection. Rich A. in Pa.

Ed,If you had a business dealing in militaria would you not look into expanding product line? Now with internet sales waiting for a buyer to walk by is not a issue. Besides if I was selling Italian badges/insignia I'd sell it all in Italy. Here there is a little interest. Over there there is much more interest and the prices of items is greater. Go to the MILITALIA show this year and find out. My collection is worth a lot here. It is worth much more there. Perhaps my attitude is a bit off to you. This is because I have worked full time in the militaria field for so long at my friends Army/Navy store(The Great War Store). I was doing the walk in buying for the store among other things. I know how much was paid for items. I was told to not pay much. Now I go to flea markets and the like for my militaria. I see lots of dealers buying there. I see the $10 item become a $90 item(or more). Like I say all the time if collectors knew what this stuff actualy cost,dealers would be in trouble. Rich A. in Pa.

Ed,John's site is the only one I know about. I could do a post trying to list the different types (military,commerative,para-military) of Italian medals. Nobody would care. If anybody wanted to buy the books on Italian medals/badges they would spend almost $3,000 and learn to read Italian. But most of the good books are out of print anyway.In my experience most people want to identify the item and find out how much they can sell it for. Besides,there is a section for identification on this forum anyway. I posted a few items there but got no help. Rich A. in Pa.
