Hello. Is this a set of Spanish Pilot's Badge from the Spanish Civil War? If it is, which side (Franco or other)? Made of gold (marked 750) and silver (marked 925) - see photos. The amount of gold and silver are significant, this large badge is heavy. Can you please verify date and any other information that would be useful in properly identifying it? Thank you. Linas

Hello. Would like to verify the authenticity of a Polish Monte Cassino Cross. It is numbered 31593. Any way of finding out who this was awarded to? On the ribbon is a metal 'Monte Cassino' attachment. Is this original to the ribbon or added later? Thank you. Linas

Hello. I am trying to date a Grand Cross of the Order of St Sava. If I am not mistaken, it can be determined by the color of the robe of the Saint. Please take a look at the photos and let me know what you think. Also, it would be great to know the maker (like Huguenin). Thank you. Linas

Hello. I just purchased this interesting commander’s cross. It states ‘Union et Maintien’ on the cross center. As I researched this, I found a certificate for this exact cross, but in a Chevalier class. There the collector referenced it as Belgian. I have a number of questions: 1. Is this Belgian or French? 2. If it is Belgian, why no crown? 3. Who issued and awarded this medal (a government ministry or some association)? 4. I know this is for Social and Philanthropic services rendered. Do you know though the criteria? Especially, why were there several grades? 5. What time period is this from? 6. Is this a common medal or is it somewhat rare? 7. What would you estimate the value? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks you. Linas

Hello. I just purchased what was described to me as a brooch for the Latvian “Latvijas Aizsardzes” (LA) – the paramilitary force in Latvia between 1919 and 1940. When researching the LA though, and seeing badges from that time period, the symbolism on this brooch does not match – especially the swastika – or as the seller said, a ‘rune.’ I, of course, have a number of questions: 1. is this a real LA article? 2. if so, is it a brooch, or something else? 3. if it is LA, what is significance of the swastika/rune? 4. is it dated pre-1940? 5. it is 875 silver. It also has the mintmark ‘BB’ – do you know what this is for? 6. do you know if this ‘brooch’ was common or rare? Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Linas

Hello, I have an opportunity to buy a Czechoslovakia Order of the White Lion Commander III Class Civil Division Cross. Based on the photos provided, I have several questions: 1. Is this an original? 2. Is this from the ČSR 1922-1961 period? 3. Based on the photos, any way of determining a more exact date? a. First Czechoslovak Republic (1918–1938) b. Second Czechoslovak Republic (1938–1939) c. Czechoslovak government-in-exile (1939–1945) d. Third Czechoslovak Republic (1945–1948) e. Socialist Czechoslovakia (1948–1960) (I know the Statutes of the order were amended in 1924, 1930, and 1936.) 4. How many of these were issued in the Commander grade, Civil Class? 5. Approximately what is its value? Any information would be helpful. I did not yet buy it, so I cannot provide more photos. Thank you.

Unidentified baltic Items
Linasl replied to Igor Ostapenko's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
This is a Lithuanian medal issued in 1930 in observance of the 'Song Day' held in the city of Kaunas (at the time the capitol of Lithuania, as Vilnius was occupied by the Poles). It is a souvenir medal from the event. -
