Continued... Here's one that just came in the mail today... This ring was made (most likely by a soldier) during his stay in Oran, North Africa in 1943, as part of Operation Torch. This one, as my Grandfather's has a nice weight to it and is a large size, although, not in mint condition, still very cool.

Here's another of my favorite family bring home items... Early-mid, 1st model Luft officer dagger. Not the greatest condition because it was hanging around the basement since the war and wasn't really cared for.. It bears no maker's mark.

You know... After really having a look, I agree with Adam... Some of the examples seem to set off the red flag alert, but regardless, still a good site to learn about the helmet and its construction... J

This one belonged to my grandfather. It was also used as his wedding ring when he married my Grandmother in Lyon whom he'd met and fell in love with there during the war. J

I'd like to add that there is not really a standard for these rings.. I've seen them in all different styles which don't seem to be setermined by location.. I've seen a few "Algiers 1944" rings in at least 3 different styles.. similar to this, round and even a thinner, more traditional wedding ring style. I'll try to put a few other examples together as my interest in them has recently been sparked... J

Anything from the tomb of Alexander the Great when they discover it?? haha.. Actually, I think the best thing I could think of for myself is an M1 lid and a photo of the soldier wearing it during the war... That would make my day... Of course, I'd have to have it handed to me by eith er him or his family haha.. These Ebay stories can only go so far... J
