Not Fritz Kempf.
Heinrich Kempf, Unteroffizier, Reserve-Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 29. Karl Friedrich Militär-Verdienst-Medaille on 12 March 1915.
Thanks Dan,
The Battle of Neuve Chapelle perhaps?
I would love to find out more about Heinrich Kempf and what he did.

Hi Guys,
Trying to find some information on this man "Kempf"
Does anyone have access to any award rolls for the Karl Friedrich Militär-Verdienst-Medaille.
Could this be a winner

I am looking at purchasing this award so any opinions would be welcome,

I have a question...
I can't seem to find mention or even a pic of a 15 year DA for Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach. Does it exist at all? Does anyone have one to show?
Can anyone help me fill the gap?

BTW-- Congratulations on the ZINK SMK, Alan. Far scarcer than the nice chocolate bronze ones. And I've never been able to tell a Hessian from Prussian long service apart from the ribbon, either.
Thanks Rick, I finally found a nice bronze SMK but wouldn't you know it lost in transit. Hopefully it will turn up.
Also a big thanks for all your work ( and the gnomes ) I've been following the ribbonbar threads for the last wee while and its great to see so many names being attributed.

40mm square is about right. No need for anything more precisely fussy than that.
I see you've got one of the chocolate bronze pre 1906 XXIVs--HARD to find out here in the world.
For some reason, most (all?) of the golden XXIV 1906+s I've seen have been made by Weiss & Co-- CAST, just like their BMVs. Must have been the low bidder on THAT contract!
Thanks for the extra info Rick,

Hi Guys,
Would like some opinions on this 15 Jahre Dienstauszeichnung.
One set of references I have state the dimensions at 43mm x 44mm @ 10.4g the other at 39mm x 39mm @ 11.6g both made from Tombak.
The seller has added some dimensions to the picture I was sent, but he did not have a set of scales for weight.
I would love to be able to fill a hole in the collection if possible so any help would be great.

Hi,
you want them all in the studio format as shown?
I think so Chris, the studio pics seem to have the best detail.

What I would like to do is include an image of each state monarch with their state awards.
Originally I would have liked to have used period postcards, but I have found these are a little to large and take up a bit to much valuable space.
So I thought I would look for some pics on the net and reduce their size.
After looking at the images available on the net, I have found that they are generally of a low quality.
Because I need images of a much higher resolution so to alter the image size without losing to much detail, I was hoping that fellow members might be kind enough to send me some high resolution scans from original postcards they may have.
I am looking for these monarchs in military uniform preferably during the 1914 - 18 period.
- Wilhelm II, Kaiser and King of Prussia
- Ludwig II, King of Bavaria
- Friedrich August III, King of Saxony
- Wilhelm II, King of Württemberg
- Friedrich II Duke of Anhalt
- Friedrich II, Grand Duke of Baden
- Ernst August, Duke of Braunschweig
- Ernst Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse Darmstadt
- William, Prince of Hohenzollern
- Leopold IV of Lippe Detmold
- Friedrich Franz IV, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg Schwerin
- Friedrich Franz IV, Regent of Mecklenburg Strelitz
- Friedrich August II, Grand Duke of Oldenburg
- Heinrich XXVII, Prince of Reuß
- Ernst II, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg
- Carl Eduard, Duke of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha
- Bernhard III, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen
- Wilhem Ernst, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar Eisenach
- Adolf II, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe
- Günther Victor, Prince of Schwarzburg
- Friedrich I, Prince Waldeck & Pyrmont
If you would like to help with this wee project please let me know.

Hello everyone,
Recently I had some display cabinets made...
I am now at the stage of playing around with ideas on how to display the many state awards I have acquired over the past few years.

A big thank you to you all, this is a great result.
Now to find a picture of Dr Prehn...

Hi Alan,
You have got a very nice ribbon bar. I thinkk that this bar is a good wartime ribbon bar even if there is no Swords on Saxon ribbons. This is the same for the Reuß ribbon.
so if it is the case, there is two possibilities. but I have no Mecklemburg rolls in my hand to be sure.
Oblt Wolfgang Müller
Lt Sartorius Frhf von Waltershausen (who died in 1916).
Christophe
Waltershausen did not have the MMV2. There are way too many Müllers with only a last name. Also, my MMV2 list ends in Sept. 1917, so there could be even more Müllers. This of course does not matter for Frhr. v. Waltershausen, who was already dead.
Also, I am way behind on updating my Reuß lists, but I have come across a few more Saxons with the order. I will be in Greiz later this year and will possibly find more. None had the MMV2, so they aren't relevant to this ribbon bar.
And I can't tell you how many Saxon orders I have found in Wehrmacht personnel files which were not in Rothe's books. This is especially the case with late-war awards of the SV3bX. So there still may be other potentials out there.
Thank you Christophe and Dan,

Another point I have forgotten. If the Saxon ribbons were peacetime, they were after the EK2 ribbon not before.
Christophe
This is a good point, and one that makes the bar that more interesting for me.Thankyou

Any chance of idenifying the owner of this nice Saxon bar?

Thanks for the help Andreas, very interesting.
The GH MVO4X (pictured earlier) weighs 27.99g
This JL weighs 22.60g

Hello Alan,
this is a fourth class. The marking 980 is for silver. The flames should have no fixing with the crossarm.
This type of MVO is an early type with golden frame and medaillon, but the third class is marked with 570 ( for gold).
The golden color can also be patina.
Regards Andreas
Hey Andreas,
So a third class would be made of actual gold not in silver gilt?
And why would there be a seperation from the frame in a third class but not in a fourth class?

Hello,
nice Leser MVO. I think it is a fourth class. Can you show me a detailpicture from the fixing of the flames. Are they fix with the crossarm?
Regards Andreas
Here you go Andreas,

Hello,
I wouldn't buy this cross. Weiss produced the first class, but not with crown.
Look at the enamel at the belt, that looks very ugly.
Regards Andreas
Hello Andreas
I have to agree not the best workmanship compared to the likes of Jacob leser and Gebrüder Hemmerle.
Thr poorer quality manufacture and the type of the lion made me think Weiss.
Who where the makers who produced "with crown"?
Are the MVK1XmKr usually found with mm?

Hello Guys,
I am looking at purchasing this MVK 1st class with crown and swords.
The MVK is not marked but It looks like a Weiss & Co manufacure to me, Would this be correct?
Would these crosses be typically marked being at the high end of the scale?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question: With some of these MVOs being marked in the 6 oclock position is this an earlier or later production?

To right Andreas, certainly not cheap, but I have seen them for a lot more.
