    2. Nice photo. When it comes to the Bahnhofswache and Zugwache Abt's would there be any overlap of responsibilities when in stations (or in the vicinity of stations) or was there a clear line in the sand as to where one had authority and the other didn't?
    3. Unfortunately I have nothing in my files for that unit or signature and there are no commanders listed on the units information on www.ww2.dk
    4. When asking for identification of signatures it is always best to post the image showing the stamp as well, and if possible the whole document to allow others to be able to narrow the search down by date or unit etc. That said, the first signature is that of Willi Moser (299 Infanterie Division) and he won the Knights Cross on 26th October 1941 and the German Cross in Gold on 27th May 1942. The second signature is that of Paul Völkers while commanding XXVII AK. He won the German Cross in Gold on 1st April 1942 and the Knights Cross on the 11th December 1942. He died while in Sovier captivity on 23rd January 1946.

    6. Thanks Chris. I forgot all about websites while I was compiling the list. Might have to change the thread title to include them rather then start a seperate one, something to ponder. Anyway, a few more books... Die Ritterkreuzträger der Luftwaffe: Band 1 - Jagdflieger 1939-1945 by Ernst Obermaier - I believe the 1966 print is dual German/English text while later prints are just German text. 7. 8. Just a quick post to say a big Thank You to all those members who have been generous and have raided their collections to add signatures to this database so far. Since the database opened in October last year there are now 10 pages of signatures, ranging from the well-known to the never-heard-of's (and each one is just as valuable an addition as the other), with the combined viewing figures for this database, and the Image Library, running into the thousands proving that your generosity has been very useful to others. Hopefully as and when you discover new signatures within your collections you will continue to post the examples here helping the database to grow, and for those that have signatures in their collections and have yet to post please feel free to. With regards to posting images there is something in the pipeline to hopefully help with resizing - please follow the link for more details... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/blog/3/entry-89-membership-levels-images/
    9. And here is his entry in Die Ritterkreuzträger des Panzerkorps Großdeutschland... There is also a photo of him wearing a feldgrau wrapper (and his RK & DKiG) with the rank of Oberstleutnant and the shoulderboards in the photo also lack the GD cyphers.
    10. Very nice tunic. Just as an addition, here is Max Fabich's signature in a Wehrpass to a soldier in his Kompanie who was killed in December 1941...
    11. This is an area I know pretty much zero about about those are good references for any interested collectors so I will pin this and hopefully over time it can be built upon to provide even more useful information as & when possible.
    12. I don't know about 1961 but currently the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal is awarded for 15 years of unbroken good conduct service from the age of 17 & a half.
    13. I'm not too sure but I don't think so. To show the secondary title... ...but my German isn't anywhere near good enough to read the Foreword by the author. If you have a particular name in mind just let me know and I'll have a look and then we will know.
    14. What is the reasoning behind the German General's signature, in this case Joachim Coeler? There must of been British officers around to validate the pass, or was it to provide a sense of extra validation of this soldiers position for ex-members of the Wehrmacht that he might of had to deal with?
    15. I haven't seen one specifically for Bergen but there is one signed in Norway in Volume 2 of Adrian Forman's Third Reich German Documents And Their Values with the citation signed 'An Bord'.
    16. Hello, When seeking out signatures there is a better chance of success if the whole document is shown so that dates, ranks, positions etc can be checked and confirmed or whether it is a fake.
    17. Oberst Karl Ritter von Weber Born: 23rd Aug 1892 Died: 20th Jul 1941 - Wounded in action near Smolensk on 18th July 1941 and died in Lazarett Krasny. Highest Rank Reached: Generalmajor Kdr Infanterie Rgt 93 Kdr 17 Panzer Division Image: 1st Oct 1938 citation.
    18. With regards to Kraftfahr-Ers.Abt 3 I don't think it would of seen any battles or campaign actions as it was based in Wehrkreis III - http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/KraftfahrAbtErs/KraftfahrAbtErs3-R.htm
    19. Nice item - are these hard to come by? It seems the sort of item that is easy to of been discarded through the years but you have to love the optimism of the expiry date! I'm sure I have recently seen (as in the last week) a WP to an officer of that zbV 15 unit but I can't recall where.
    20. Sounds like a nice trade-off - but pray that your sister-in-law doesn't read the comment about her!
    21. I agree, it does look like Kommando - here is another example from 18 Schiffsstammabteilung.
    22. Another nice example for your collection, I particularly like the Finland campaign entries. You seem to of had a decent year for adding Fg Wehrpasse, Soldbucher and the like to your collection.
    23. The WASt holds records on soldiers which includes units but they generally only give those details to Next Of Kin.
    24. That is a great set and the July 1944 full length photo is fantastic. I'm not sure I would describe the award entries in the Soldbuch as 'only' though as the HK entry is a desireable entry Does the soldbuch have a photo in it?
    25. Oberleutnant Albert Krumteich Kdr Panzerzug 2 - Sept 1939 to Jun 1942 Image: Wehrpass to PZ 2 crew member.
