    1. ... And then these last images. Now back to the World Cup before I go out and play on my wood lathe again. Angola vs. Portugal may not stir the loins, but it's the only World Cup we've got. Think ex-colony vs. ex-colonialist, that'll help put it into perspective. I think that Mexico got a big wake-up call this AM. And what about England? The best the big boys could do was an own goal? Are you kidding me? My new rally cry ... GO TRINIDAD & TOBAGO!!! Now go score a goal guys. You don't suppose Sweden was overlooking them just a wee bit, do you? Chuck
    2. I thought I'd share one more group today. It's pretty slow on the ol' GMIC Soviet board today. This group is one of my favorites. Enjoy.
    3. * * * * * Hi Dan I agree, and I do like this small group a lot. It's just that so many others seem to prefer the pristine single pieces to the documented-but-war-weary groups. I got tired of discussing that point. I'd just rather let others make up their minds about these, rather than me saying "Here's a wonderful group ...". Heck, they're going to anyway, and I don't enjoy that particular discussion. <<Are you going to research?>> No. This isn't in one of my particular interests. It's one of several (or maybe more than several) that I bought for re-sell to support my own habit. I need to pay for the ones that I bought to keep.
    4. * * * * * Doc, you are fast with the reply! Yes, I particularly like the Glory-3. It is in terrific condition. Chuck
    5. Fewer posts these days, it seems like. Graduations and vacations, I suppose. This is a modest group by some standards. Unless, of course, you actually had to do whatever it was that he did to earn these. Then it might not seem quite so modest. The documents are weak. One is split. Two of the ribbons are likely replacements. Still, I like it. Enjoy.
    6. Yes, the price for these is going up fast, but so is everything else, at least in terms of the USD. It's bringing some things out of the closet, that's for sure, but if you want 'em, you've gotta pay the price. Here's one I brought back last month. Chuck
    7. * * * * * You're kidding, right? Not even a guess so far suggests that we just might need another clue or two. I thought maybe this is a detail from a Civil War monument. I went to a couple of books that show quite a few monuments but I definitely couldn't find this one. Where's Ed when you really need him? He probably just visited it. Chuck
    8. Here's one I brought back last month.
    9. * * * * * Hi Doc and Others I'm glad to see that others enjoy this topic as much as I do. I have one more outstanding early group, with photos, then you will have seen pretty much everything I have in this field. I'm not sure when I'll have time to post it, so you'll have to settle for "one of these days soon". The good news is that my friends know to look for this theme for me, so I will have more in the future. Chris, what is that pin of yours? It's really interesting, maybe late-20s or so? Chuck
    10. A couple of guys liked the Azeri MOOP 20-Year Irreproachable Service Medal I posted. Here's a full set of Georgian MOOP service medals, with a document. Actually, I have extras of the 15-Year and 20-Year medals.
    11. I found some more sub vets' badges. These are late-era plastic badges, but they're still kinda interesting.
    12. And finally, two oddities. On the left is a seaplane/scout plane veteran's badge and on the right is, I think, a 170-Year Jubilee Badge of the Russian Navy, but the badge seems to say something like Military Fleet in the name of Dzerzhinski. I know that state security had their own air, land and naval arms, but I can't quite understand what this might be. Does anyone know?
    13. I was looking for something else entirely and I came across a batch of navy badges that I had forgotten about. This first bunch is subs, of course.
