Very interesting to see and read your post Kay!
I think the crown in your 2A is rather similar, interesting to see the variation of these.
Somewhere on a dealers site I read that these were made from “modified 1870 cores” and I think early in the war.
I suppose it is the cores used to imprint in the sand that were modified, for the mould making process. There were likely many cores with slight variations used.
Thoughts on this are welcome
Best regardsErik
wel there two core to be seen as A types .
I separated them in two numbers ,( the 2 ABC ) and the 12 abc .
the 2abc represent A buckshot crown as the crown looks like being shot with buckshot ammo .
and the 12 abc represents a crown that actually is very simmilar to the 1870 A type crown .
i post the pictures below .
hope you like it .
and sorry for reacting so late, i am not so active on forums so much as i was in the past .

Sorry to bump in Here, especially as I am not very active here so much.
But for your core : (I could not resist)
I call it the BuckShot crown core.
Every Version you buy from These cores it seems to be (buckshot) differently.
I am making a file with all ek2 1914 core designs on the marked to be found and this core is listed with 2 variations.
And can be found in ek1 as well
The core ( to me ) is cast iron and you're cross is a typical WS.
Core is also used in WE and A marked crosses's.
And I suspect in combination with many more different markings in ek2 crosses'sI like it very much hope my added picture are of any help.

Vit67, ?
I think you don't have to worry al too much about federal agents and citizen arrests ?
The bottom line is,you presented the bar as it was.
Your work in restoring /building.(if my interpretation of this topic is correct).
So yea well done.
So far the strange turn out of this topic created a little blush on the faces of the established order.(to say it carefully)
So, yes they repay you. (drama expected)
But the upright standing for your work and replies here made me think I should salute you.
By this I do.
Regards Kay

Translation of two pages of text for chaps with ChrisB attitude?!
I think I`ll pass Kay
Don't pass ,,
you should remember you would do it,,,,,,,, not fore the ones you have arguments with ,,,,,,,you do fore someone who kindly asked you to and is seriously interested .

he said the date didn't match that maker
that is noncence
SW also used generatic cores who where used to by other makers
this core is one off the several used cores . a rare one .
concentrate on the frame ,that is giving the maker away .
and that you wood have to do exosting research by looking throe hudreds off pictures , is the name off the game fore us all .
rewards,,,,,,,, are a sharp aie fore originals .

mike y ,
wy don't you study the inner corners and try and find a matching frame .
its a technique all collectors use ,and its important fore you as well to get experienced in .

one can speculate so much about those kind off stuff
I am just glad some off it is now confirmed to a maker
a second thing came along thinking about it
interestingly enough I ones where reading an artical about the impact off WW 1 on the jeweller world
besides the economic problems ,,,
amazingly telling about two highly regarded jewellers where drafted in to service and actually died during that period .
but that book was more fore the throe jewellery artwork artist kind a jeweler.
dont remember they're names ether ,but fore the trench art lead an interesting thing to know .
as far as deutscher offiziers verein go's ,they to,, had difficulties as specialized craftsmen where drawn in to service .
so ,yes ,,trench art is plausible enough ,
distinguishing What is made by who is the difficulty .

well makes cence ,,surely soldiers where acoupied with a lot off other importand things in those trenches
