    1. Hello! The FK Hindenburg was set-up feb., 13th, 1919 in Kolberg to protect the GHQ. It came from the protection-company of the GHQ (Sturm-Btl. 2, 5 and 7). In march it was raised to: I. Sturmbataillon (later in october it became II./RW-Inf.Rgt.110 in Celle) II. Garde-Gren.Btl. (from Garde-Gren.Rgt.5 Spandau - it became later in october IV./RW-Inf.Rgt.102 in Kolberg) Kavallerie-Regiment: 1. (Drag.Rgt.16 Lüneburg) 2. (Jg.z.Pf.Rgt.5 Mülhausen) 3. (Garde-Ulanen-Rgt.2 Berlin) The badge from FK Hindenburgf was "Collar-oakleaves with an "H" Leader was Hauptmann Otto They fought battles in Hannover and became later under command of the Division Münster during the action in the Ruhr-area (where I live...) At the beginning of those fight, they stood between Münster and Lüdinghausen. (By the way, my grandfather served in the FK Wesel, but he left in early 1919) The Gruppe Division Münster was led by Generalmajor v. Preinitzer The Untergruppe Hannover was led by Oberst Freiherr v. Ledebur The II./Res.Inf.Rgt.110 (I don´t know, why it´s called here "Reserve" - source: Darstellungen aus den Nachkriegskämpfen dt. Truppen und Freikorps, vol.9) with the Sturm-Btl. 2,5 and 7 were increased by 4./Res.Art.Rgt.10. The map is from "Das Buch vom deutschen Freikorps-Kämpfer". Note: The town south of Münster is called "Lüdinghausen"! The written-down town "Lüdenschd" für "Lüdenscheid is wrong! Lüdenscheid is south of Hagen
    2. Hi IG! Artillery shoulderf straps with metal numbers were those form Reserve-regiments. RFAR 3 (Stettin and Bromberg). Set up at mobilization, generally under command of 3.Res.Div.
    3. IG Are you sure with Mun.Kol. 863? Because I haven´t seen a helmet cover with a bigger number than 1000, I assume, the ammo columns didn´t have written helmet covers. (IF they had, they would have the numbers of the shoulder straps. Note, that the ammo colums wore the numbers of the active or reserve artillery units!) "Your" man could serve with the Feldartillerie-Battarie Nr.863! Set-up 21.11.1915 (XVII.AK). Ersatztrupppe: 2.Ers.Abt./Feldart.Rgt.81 Under command of 36.Res.Div.(1916) and from late 1916 8.Armee. Armed with russian 8,69cm Feldkanone. Like mine 833. (VII.AK) Ers.Abt./Feldart.Rgt.58. Armee with russian 8,69cm too
    4. Hello friends. The 9th army in feb.15 was involved in the battle of Rawka-Bzura (dec.14-july 15) The IR116 was at the Somme with the 25.Inf.Div. The RIR 118 was with the 25.Res.Div. ( Korps Fabeck) at the Bzura (9th army). At end of february it was engaged in the Carpathians.
    5. That´s right. The Etappen-Inspekteur had the rank of a division-commander. The general-staff of an Etappen-Inspektion was:1 Generalstabsoffizier 1 Adjutant 1 Art.Offz. 1 Pio.Offz. 3 Veterinäre 1 Zahlmeister Chef der Feldgendarmerietruppe Bahnbeauftragter
    6. If I may offer my humble opinion... 1 + 2: Sturmlehrgang 111.Inf.Div.Front and reverse 3 + 4: Sturmabteilung 33.Inf.Div. 5: MW-Kp.170 Markendorf (MW Ers.Rgt.1 for Sturmbataillone) 6: Sturmabteilung 239.Inf.Div. 7. Sturm-Btl.Nr.16 8 + 9 Sturmkompanie 13 Front and reverse
    7. I follow with a few photos of my collection. Note the last one. It written with "15-Pfünder beim Abschuß". I assume, it´s a german 280mm L/40 .But it´s really a wonderful "Boom-photo"...
    8. Here I got a nice photo of a Feldhaubitze 98/09. I put it together with a technical drawing. It´s nice, because both pictures were made from the same angle of view
    9. To #55. The photo in the middle: That is a very interesting photo! It´s a 9cm Flak model "Schnetzler", also used by my grandpas unit, the FAR43
    10. OK, I can´t reach that number... Chip did it!!! Thanx a lot! LMK 1203: set-up 30.3.1918 from AOK 7. Was under command of Ers.Abtl./4.Garde-Feldart.Rgt. Thanx for the song! It´s great! I love the old german marching songs!!!! I have found another helmet cover from a Landsturm-Unit: Ldst.Inf.Btl. Ellwangen (XIII.12)
    11. Big number? Mine is bigger... Unfortunately no helmet-cover, just a shoulder-board FAR 600 and the BIGGEST number I have: Feldartillerie-Batterie 833
    12. Hi Dave! Yes, it´s gone after the 2nd world war. Thanx for the photo. I didn´t know, that the fragment still exist!!! I´ll visit it next time. I live only 20km from Wesel! I´ve been there earlier and took those photos of the Monument of Schill (killed by Napoléon) and the Zitadelle of Wesel:
    13. I hope you don´t blame me for getting a heart attack while searching... And, yes, surely MG, not 16
    14. Hi Chris! Of course, there are some possibilities. We can´t know... Which wine shows you a 16, please? I´d like to have a good wine too, but here it is 9pm and I will have toi get up at 4am...
    15. E Williams: No, the MGSS were set-up at the beginning of 1916. The school was in Rozoy (set up ocotber 1916), it was called MGSS Kommando West. It later came to Tongern. Here is the list of the bavarian MGSS: bav. MGSS Abtl. 1 (former Nr.1 of Armee-Abtl. C) - from MGSS-Trupps 46, 187 and 188 - 1.october 1916 - 1st bav. Inf.Div. bav. Strantz) - from MGSS Trupps 135, 136, 138 - ocotber 1916 - 1st bav. Ldw.Div.
    16. But it´s a simple soldier. I don´t think, he travelled far away. The 16th regiment came from Passau (315km) and Landshut (195km)
    17. Hello! Neu-Ulm was the home of the bavarian 12th Inf.Rgt. In 1914 they had three bataillons and one MG-company In 1916 a 2nd and a 3rd MG company were set-up. Maybe he is member of the MG-Ersatz-Zug 4, 811 or 813, who built those companies?
    18. Oh, stupid me... Give me animal-names, hit me, beat me, or give me water to drink... Of course! Saxon Foot-artillery had saxon cuffs and an exploding bomb! The lying man is identified!
    19. That makes sense, but I don´t understand, why they created a wrong shoulder strap??? The 19 with a bomb can´t be squared ones! Never! But here is the proof... I know why Rick said, "never collect foot artillery"... Here is a list of those unites, set-up by Fott-artillery regiment 19: Peace formation: 2. Sächs. Fußart.Rgt.Nr.19 Regiments: Fußart.Rgt.19 Res.Fußart.Rgt.19 Independent bataillons: 58, 64, 96, 104, 105, 107, 160, 404, Landwehr 19, Landwehr 67, Ersatz 19, Landsturm XII.AK Independent batteries: 123, 298, 440-442, 494, 508, 567, 587, 625, 685, 695, 740, 753, 788, 789, 1015 Other: Park-Kompanie Res.19, , Landwehr 19, 45, 115, 142, Lichtmeßtrupp 44, Schallmeßtrupp 23, 110 Maybe we have on of the other 19ers???
    20. Slontcha IrishGunner! Well, so it´s not reserve. BUT, why does he have saxon shoulder boards and saxon cuffs????? The Feldart.Rgt.19 came from Erfurt (XI.AK) If the Ammo colums were mounted, thex had carbines too. But this night I won´t get any sleep because of the saxon-question!
