    1. Now lets look at the back of the cross and the screw posts. After 130 years , I would not expect to still be able to see the welding residue around each of the 4 screwposts.
    2. Speaking of nuts--Take a good close look at this picture. Those nuts look to be NEWLY machined. Nice shiny, smooth perfect nuts. NOT 130 years old. Also the backing plate looks to be new.
    3. A month or so ago, there were a lot of these fakes floating around ebay. Some marked KAG some KO many were unmarked.
    4. These crosses were discuseed over at WAF. The end result was not in favor of these crosses. Here is a link to that thread. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...ght=eagle+stamp If it is not acceptable to post links to or from WAF. Please accept my apologies and delete this reply
    5. I hate to be a nay-sayer but I don't think those marks are the same.
    6. A ww2 Randall is something to cherish. I love fighters and daggers. Here a couple more-- These are both import knives stamped ENGLAND and do not have the Wilkenson style blade. [attachmentid=63693]
    7. The very first collectable blade i ever purchased was a 3rd pattern FS. I bought it when I was 16 some 34 years ago. Over the years I have picked up a few more. Nothing special--no etchings or first patterns. But I really like the clean, simple, deadly design. A ->I England, ->B2, ->B [attachmentid=63547]
    8. Fantastic mini The only thing that would make it better is if it were to relocate to Wisconsin
    9. Thanks, This came from the famous "Becker Hoard" Dave Danner lists these medals in gold and silver and with and without swords. I have sent Dave a PM to see if he might have some more info on them.
    10. WOW--That is just WRONG. Unfortunately he is going to fool a lot of people with some of these.
    11. Thank you So this would date post 1871. Maybe even around the time of the 1895 Jubilee ? Thanks again for your help
    12. Here is a picture. This is a 15mm mini hanging from a 12.7mm ribbon. Is this a just a non-combat war effort medal?--Anyone????? [attachmentid=63437]
    13. Thanks Steve Here is the back. the ribbon is orange and white. I think. the colors match both of my Red Eagles. [attachmentid=63436]
    14. OUTSTANDING collection and very very nicely displayed.
    15. I have a mini Order of Albert the Bear gold merit medal without swords. I am wondering under what circumstances this would be awarded. Is this just a "I was there" type of award? Thanks.
    16. Great Variant. there was one of these with backplate on ebay a few weeks back. I was going to bid on it but the price very quickly jumped into the "I don't think so" category.
    17. Here is a mini that i am trying to identify. I can not seem to find a match to it anywhere. Thanks, Greg [attachmentid=63383]
    18. I also really like FS daggers. Page 41 & 42 of Buerlein's book "Allied Military Fighting Knives" shows several examples of wood handled FS daggers. His only comment on your particular style is -- " They were probably made late in the war. " I like it- It's a great variation that I wouldn't mind having in my own collection.
    19. Here is a picture of a crown/moon/800 mark on the ring of a EK2 instead of the frame. This cross and picture belong to Tony ( Tony & Kaiser ) of Kaiser's Bunker. He asked that I post it for him.
    20. Chris, I think you are right. We have already seen some of that with the fake Godet marks as well as the I Wagner or J Wagner ?????? crosses. Some of the "9th bead" style of 1870 fakes come with a variety of different makers marks. Some are an attempt to upgrade a plain cross while most are just outright fakes.
    21. Nice find. I have not seen one of these before. Is this the Werner as in J.H. Werner ? Congrats, Greg
    22. Outstanding family grouping and a great history. It is a great group but as individual pieces, I have to say that the cutout WBs really caught my eye. Thanks for sharing you grandfather with us.
