The Navy Good Conduct Medal was awarded for a "Tour" could be a year to 4 years. It sounds as if your uncle should have received one. You should lookup on the internet "SF-180" and fill it out with a letter concerning the Good Conduct Medal and sent to the National Personnel Records Center. The instructions on on pages 2 and 3 of the electronic SF-180. I hope this helps. Cheers Captain Albert

Yes by all means Kapten get yourself and family as far away from the volcano as possible. I saw what Mount St. Helen's did. Also I was once stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, a volcano took it out completely. They are nothing to mess with. Concerned Captain Albert

Dear Captain,
I read in the Forum a comment you had made regarding earning the Navy Good Conduct Medal in WWII. I am preparing a Military Award Shadowbox for my uncle who served for 10 days short of 4 years in the Navy in WWII. He had a clean service record and I have the impression that he deserves the Good Conduct Medal.
