    1. A little late to this thread, but the other writing looks like numbers (in kanji). If you can copy them I could tell for certain. Hold the rifle up with the barrel to the ceiling and and write them from top to bottom. Nice piece! Eric
    2. Ah yes, I'm probably an idiot and will more than likely come out of this as a just an angry, broke torso but life isn't fun without a challenge. Now be sure to remind me I said this when you find me screaming about fakes, crooks and revenge eric
    3. Wow....I had no idea it's been so long since I've been on this forum.... I wanted to share with everyone one of my new obsessions, early Soviet headgear. This is my Model 1927 Cavalry hat for the 2nd Cavalry Division, 67th "North Caucuses" Regiment. Thanks to an outstanding individual I'm slowly learning more about these eariler pieces. If there is interest I'd be more than happy to post more of my new toys. Also, any comments positive or negative are appreciated....as I mentioned, I'm still learning! Eric
    4. Hello! I've been trying to find information on the overall dimensions of the US M1906 4.7" Field Gun, specifically overall height, length and barrel length. It's kind of an odd request but I'm hoping someone out there might have a copy of the original manual or at least a good book on it. The little bit of information I've found on it has been a bit contradictory. Thank you in advance! Eric
    5. Yes but I'd be a little leary of the paint on the outside of the shell, it almost looks too good. eric
    6. Units under Direct Command of the Director General of the Defense Agency (other units) 10th Division (other units) Sorry these are a little bit disjointed and the colors aren't the best. I was just looking for a chance to show off one of my real loves! Eric
    7. 8th Division (Engineer) 8th Division (Infantry) 9th Division (Infantry)
    8. 7th Division, 11th Regiment (Infantry) 7th Division (Infantry) 6th Division (Medical) 7th Division (Armor) I've found shades of red can really vary, even within patches from the same time period....probably more so than the other branch of service colors.
    9. 4th Division (Infantry) 4th Division, 19th Regiment (Infantry) 5th Division (other units) 4th Division (Medical) The first 4th Division (Infantry) patch is interesting in that the numeral is stitched into place with thread. Later patches have numerals attatched by small prongs at the top and bottom of the numeral that are then folded over.
    10. 1st Division (Ordnance) 1st Division (Transportaion) 2nd Division (Artillery)
    11. That's an great link Dave. Here are a few of mine that I can get to right now: Left to right Northeastern Army (Quartermaster) Western Army (other units) Northern Army (other units) Northeastern Army (Aviation)

      Japanese ?

Not that it helps in what it is, but the first two kanji (left to right)are yogin (nickel silver/German silver) and the last two are kimba (gold filled)......so I'm assuming it means gold filled German silver? My Japanese is very rusty though. I wonder if it's from a piece of jewelry? Eric
    13. Hi David, you are right about the colors representing the branch of service. Here is a list: Red = Infantry Dark yellow = artillery Orange = armor Maroon = engineer Green = ordnance Dark green = medical Light blue = aviation Blue = signal corps Brown = quartermasters Purple = transportaion White = airborne brigade and airborne training units Dark blue = others units including Ground Staff Office, Army HQ, and Division HQ When I have time I'll post some of mine. JSDF stuff is very under appreciated but very neat! Eric
