    1. Cheers guys.. For reference, here are some closeups of hinge/catch.
    2. Knowing that you're not too up on computers, Chris...you should put a smiley after a joke.
    3. The hunt for a nice original glider pilot's badge finally comes to an end. Thanks to a fellow member, I can stop having to look through all those fakes and rest easy...until a 'Juncker', of similar quality, comes along, that is. I know? it?s never ending. So, to the badge... An unmarked example, in Tombak, by the maker 'BSW'.
    4. A very nice piece, Marcus. All I can tell you is that this No 11 model appears in the 38/39 Allach catalogue, was designed by the great Prof T K?rner and can also be found with the Rosenthal mark, the company K?rner worked for before moving to Allach. So, it would seem that K?rner took his designs with him and continued to produce his pieces under the Allach mark until the end. I think I'm right in saying that all K?rner's early pieces only had ?T.K?rner? impressed into the base, and on being made a professor (date unknown) all his pieces were impressed with ?Prof Th. K?rner?. Hope this helps..
    5. Welcome, Isonzo.. That 2nd pattern Pilot/Observer is a very nice badge to start with. I would very much like to see the badge that sits next to it... that's just my way of saying...show us more! Any chance of some reverse pictures of the 'Assmann' Ob's badges?
    6. Nice score, Eric. Here are the stat's of my P/O & PB. P/O.. Wreath.. Height. 53.65mm. Wreath.. Width. 42.60mm Wing span. 65.31mm. Weight. 27. 9g ------------------ PB. Wreath.. Height. 53.72mm Wreath.. Width. 42.49mm Wing span. 65.30mm Weight. 28.3g.
    7. Nicely put, Jos... I've certainly learnt a lot from this thread and thank all those involved.
    8. The badge shown is, at present, for sale on a UK dealer site. Stijn, thanks for the opinion, more pennies saved. I look forward to the book release. Put me down for a copy.
    9. Well, due to this thread, I've saved some pennies. I have been looking at an example of this cloth glider badge which turns out to be one of the fakes that you show. Many thanks, Stijn. I'm hoping that, if you have the time, you'll post some examples from each maker so that we'll have a reference, as well as some known fakes to compare with. Oh yes, whilst I'm here.... what's your opinion on this one, Stijn? Not very good pictures, not sure what the 'A' under the the right rivet is all about but it looks to have a typical Juncker reverse setup for a zincer.
    10. HI N.S, Until recently, ?WH? marked badges were thought to be made by ?Walter Henlein? who based in Gablonz. The fact that these badges were marked ?Wien? gave collectors a quite understandable reason to doubt the authenticity of these pieces. However, recently, packets with the maker stamp ?W. Hobacher. Wien? have turned up, causing these same collectors to rethink the actual maker of these badges. This, having been said, there have only been one or two of these packets found and the fact that there have been a lot of copies made of the ?W.H? series, that have been identified as such (mostly cast), leads me to believe that there is still a lot of doubt as to the authenticity of the packets, themselves. Of course, I may well be wrong and there may be a day when a veteran?s group turns up with award, packet, citation, etc, leaving us with no doubt that ?W. Hobacher. Wien? is indeed the true maker of these badges. With regards to the example that you mention in D.N?s catalogue? If you take a close look at this badge, compared to yours, you will see some marked differences in the maker mark, Obverse and reverse setup. Yes, this could be due to the photography, etc, but what is clear is that they do differ, something that is a worry. Perhaps if you could supply some close-ups of the hinge, catch, maker mark, obverse/reverse of the badge, we could get the Flak experts to give some further opinions on this badge, in particular, and the authenticity of ?W.H Wien? marked badges, in general.
    11. Hi Nan Su, I think we may have a problem with this "WH Wien" marked badge. Yes, there are Army Flak badges made by this maker but marked only with "WH". I would suggest that, if at all possible, you return this badge to the seller for a refund.
    12. The only HJ honour badges that I'm truely happy with are the type that are made of bronze with the wash/gilt, applied. Here are my two, numbered and the 'B' type.
    13. A BIG thanks to you for letting me have it, Stijn. Good to see that you've joined the club.. I hope you won't mind if we call upon you with 'glider' related matters?
    14. Thanks for reposting this thread, Marc. Silly me for hitting the wrong button..
    15. Something I've often used on camping trips until seeing the price that these sets go for, nowadays.
    16. Award plaque for pilots who took part in a sailing competition.
