    1. WW1, probably western front. Unfortunately the reverse is totally blank, there are no comments or notes. The one on the left, lower left corner, seems to wear a M1907/10 Feldrock with Swedish cuffs and the one on opposite side to the the right, first row, seems to wear a M1915/16 Bluse, so most probably the photo is taken somewhere between 1916 and 1918. 2. Photo Simon, Braunschweig 1914. Unfortunately the reverse is totally blank, there are no comments or notes. The photo is taken after the war started because some of the soldiers are already wearing their Iron Cross 2nd class. Photo Simon, Braunschweig 1914 by honoretpatria.wordpress, on Flickr
    3. @yossi, nice photo, but I think not many of us here speak Russian, so a few words in English describing the photo would be nice.
    4. @yossi, if you have WW1 photos or postcards, post them here. You can open a new tread for modern battlefield photos. Regards!

    8. Thanks Chris, I suspected that, but I can't find the original name in German, so I can search an original one on google images. Maybe someone knows the original name of this insignia? Thanks!

    16. Paja: thank you for the explanations, now I understand better the types of this medal. So the one that my grandfather wears is the 5th type (1927 - 1934). Yes, I am 100% sure he received this medal somewhere between 1938 and 1939, the began this military service in 1937 and I have a photo of him dated on the back side 20.VII.1939 were he already wears the medal, there is another photo form his military identity card were he wears the medal, this one is undated, but I believe its from 1938 or 1939 because his rank is already a Corporal (in 1937 he must have been a simple soldier). I guess its a bit strange he received the 5th type, maybe they had 5th type medals left and awarded them to Romanians because King Alexander I of Yugoslavia was married with the sister of King Carol II of Romania? I wonder if someone can search whom from the Yugoslav Royal family made visits in 1938 and 1939 in Romania, especially at the Peleș Castle? This is the place where I believe my grandfather received the medal. Or maybe King Carol II visited the Kingdom of Yugoslavia accompanied by soldiers from the ”Royal Palace Guard Battalion”, including my grandfather, so he received the medal during such a visit?
    17. @Paul and @Paja: thank you very much for the photos, this is exactly what I was looking for!
    18. Thank you very much Paul! Off course, I will keep in mind your example, but I still hope someone will post a case of the 4th class (silver, no crown), I don't know what type it is, in the photo were my grandfather wears the medal a face can be seen what resembles King Alexander I of Yugoslavia, so I guess its the 6th type, 4th class?
    19. Thank you for your answer Paul. The Romanian section may be not the right one because the medal I refer to is the Yugoslavian Royal Household Medal, this medal was awarded to.my grandfather most likely in 1938 or 1939, presumably, by a Yugoslavian Royal during one of their visits at the Peleș Castle, where my grandfather served in the Romanian ”Royal Palace Guard Battalion” (King Carol II bodyguard battalion). I will try in the Yugoslavian section, maybe more luck there.
    20. From my collection: Tiroler Landesverteidiger 1915.
    21. From my collection: Admiral Sir John Jellicoe - In Supreme Command of the Home Fleets, 1914.
    22. I will repeat the most important part from my above post in the hope someone can help: can someone post some photos with the original case of the Medalja Za Usluge Kraljevskom Domu, model 1934, 4th class in silver? Thank you!
    23. Hello gentleman! I have a question about a similar medal awarded to my grandfather somewhere between 1937 to 1940 (most likely 1938 or 1939) during his service, with the rank of Corporal, in the Royal Palace Guard Battalion at the Peleș Castle. I believe its the Medalja Za Usluge Kraljevskom Domu, model 1934, 4th class in silver (please see the attached photo below). So I have a few questions: is my assumption correct, can someone post some photos with the correct medal and, most importantly, the original case? Also can someone speculate about why, and by whom, this medal was awarded to my grandfather? Maybe some lists with awarded persons exist somewhere, and, are they accessible? Thank you very much!
