      etiopia & angola

From Ethiopia The top row is my collection of Derg Medals. The Badge in the middle was for the original Junta and is numbered. The stuff below left is Sudanese and the DRC the stuff on the bottom right is current Ethiopian medals and ribbons.
    3. I have never seen that type of neck ribbon. My copy is pictured below. Purchased in Addis in 2010. I was told it was called the "Hero of Socialist Ethiopia".
    4. That's an interesting medal at the beginning of this thread. I got the attached photos when I was in Addis about seven years ago. I have about four physical copies of the medals and a ribbon bar set.
    5. Coming into this a little late but I very much enjoyed this thread. I had the pleasure of staying a year in Addis Ababa. During that time I tried to accumulate as much phaleria from Ethiopia as I could from all periods: Imperial, Derg and Post-Derg. So you may find this useful. 1st picture is the first (Gold) and second (silver) class public service medals. They came in either East German or Czech plastic cases and were pretty ubiquitous around Churchill Avenue (the main avenue that held many of the antique and curios in Addis). The Second Picture is the military version of the 1st.
    6. Thanks Uwe, OK so my Kampforden is Ohne-Kriegsbande (without war band) I think. (file was too big to attach). I have heard that some were awarded though. So unlike the Bluecher Orden, the Kampforden mit Kriegsbande was awarded to troops? Did the recipients receive the award by being an MIL-adviser like in Ethiopia, Angola, Vietnam etc.? -Redleg
    7. Could someone tell/show me the difference between a Kampforden with a kriegsband and regular Kampforden? Thanks -Redleg
