    2. I have found out that a ( 新高,1904, Captain Kobayashi Kenkura 小林研蔵) commanded the protected cruiser IJN Niitaka as part of the Second Fleet during the Siege of Tsingtao in 1914.

By the looks of the kanji this would be the same person, correct? What's the first part say? My literal translator says "New High"!

      Cheers

      Larry

    3. Thank you Nick  :)

I can see where a case of mistaken identity could occur.

I'm guessing there is nothing special about Lieutenant Commander Kenkura Kobayashi?

Again Many thanks for your help. It's truly appreciated.

      Cheers

      Larry

    4. Medals come before in cross in terms of being awarded.

The Gold Leo II medal is Awarded after 20 years of meritorious service to a non-commissioned officer (9 years for non-commissioned officers member of the flying personnel), and after 25 years of service for a private or corporal.

The long service medal was issued for 25 years of service with Gold going to higher ranks, and the cross for 35 years service.

Unless I am greatly mistaken this is fellow member Tachel's page on the "Civil decoration for Long Service in the Administration of Leopold l:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civic_Decoration

I was assuming - horrible word - that both devices were silver, and that one was a cross! Old eyes and a small fuzzy piccies makes it hard.

      Cheers

      Larry

    5. Here's my take on them....

      1st Bar in order shown

      Sitara-i-Harb 1965  - Instituted 1965

      Sitara-i-Harb 1971  - Instituted 1971

      Tamja-i-Jang 1965 - Instituted 1965

      Tamja-i-Jang 1971 - Instituted 1971

      Quaid-e-Azam 100th year  - Instituted 1976

      Hirji Tamja  - Instituted 1979

The largest flag for me is a 14 year career and no "10 year service medal". I would also kind of except to see a Tamgha-i-Difaa with the 1965 bar

      2nd bar

      Tamja-i-Baqa  - Instituted 1998

      Tamja-i-Jang 1971 - Instituted 1971 - but no Sitara-i-Harb 1971

      10 year Service medal

      20 year Service medal

      Quadra-i-Pakistan  - Instituted 1990

Independence Golden Jubilee  - Instituted 1998

The only flag I see is the Tamja-i-Baqa  should be the last/second last medal on the bar.

Bear in mind these are my opinions and finding accurate info on Pakistani medals is sparse at best.

      Cheers

      Larry
