  1. Hello everybody I would like to show you a great collection of one of my friend who give me authorisation to show his collection of the "Schützen Regiment Nr. 108". He is still interested by items from this unit. Don't hesitate to pm me and then I will give him information. Enjoy Christophe
  2. Hello all, I'm been researching my great grandfather known to us as Herbert Müller. He is listed as Oberst (retired) Christian Herbert Müller on his wife's death certificate. He was the Commander of The 2nd royal Saxon. Hussar Regiment No. 19 "Crown Prince Wilhelm of the German Empire and Prussia", from 1915 until their disbandment in 1919. There is a photo of him in the a publication celebrating the Regiment's 125 year anniversary here https://digital.slub-dresden.de/werkansicht/dlf/368539/19/0/#. We have copies of several of the photos in this commemorative book, as well as some other photos of him in military dress. Since finding this book online, I have been unable to find any other details or further information on him. I was hoping someone here might be able to help me or possibly even have some record relating to his war service? Any assistance would be hugely appreciated. Cheers, Irene
  3. Hi everybody, here is one ribbon bar belonged to OSA Johannes Friedrich who received SA3aXKr, EK2, OK2, SDA He received EK1 and OK1 too Christophe
  4. Hi everybody, Here you will find papers, medals and ribbon bar to a young saxon officer
  5. Hi everybody, Here is my new ribbon bar from an Officer of the Jäger Btn Nr. 13. I showit here with EK1, RK and paar of Oblt Shoulderboards. This ribbon bar come with the trapezoidal medal bar (without medals). I have found only two names (maybe more) of officers who had the same combo on the ribbon bar : Lt Paul Hederich who died in 1916 Oblt Georg Graf Vitzthum von Eckstädt who died in 1945. Christophe and now with trapezoidal medal bar
  6. Hi everybody, Recently I was lucky enough to get this very nice mini chain which belonged to Leutnant der Reserve Walter Dittrich. It is composed by SA3bX, SHMg, SHMs, EK2. Of course the rarity is about the SHMg. Only 150 were awarded during the Great War and only three men received it as flyer. He received the following orders : SA3bX, ? probably at the end of 1918 or after. SHMg, 24 juillet 1917, SHMs, 31 octobre 1916, EK2, 14 janvier 1916, EK1, ? Pilot badge, 13 janvier 1916, Ehrenbecher, 1917 Wound badge, probably silver or gold, 1918. Here is photo of Dittrich from the following book : Ehrenbuch der Inhaber der Sächsische Goldenen Militär St Heinrichs-Medaille, Dresden, Selbst Verlag, 1936, 264 p. There is a little biography on the O’CONNOR (N.W.), Aviation Awards of Imperial Germany in World War One, vol. 3, The Kingdom of Saxony, Princeton, New Jersey, 1993, 279 p. As you can see, he has chosen to wear the Albert Order before the SHMg. I have in my collection a small ribbon bar which have the same combo (both SH ribbons and after the SA3 ribbon. I have no idea if it is from the same man or not. I can only imagine. I think about the ribbon bar that this one the first ribbon is for the knight cross of St Henry and after the SHMs. That's why both ribbons are ahead the SA ribbon. Christophe
  7. Hi everyone! What do you all think of the authenticity of this bar? http://www.ebay.de/itm/322146876603?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Jason

  9. Hello all, I am posting here today in the hopes that you can help me identify this man. As far as I can tell he is from a Saxon duchy (maybe Sachsen-Meiningen?). He saw service in 1866, 1870 and then again in 1914. His bar shows: 1870 EK2 / WHS / RAO4 / KO3 / DA / 1870 KDM / 1866 Kreuz / ZM I'm not sure what his topmost neck order is either. I have an idea but I will refrain from posting it so as to avoid influencing others' eyes. Looking forward to hearing your ideas. Thank you in advance for any help. Trevor
  10. Please take a look at the Dresdner Salonblatt . It included a lot of photographs of high ranking officers (Saxon mainly) in relative usable quality, see attachment. Also some useful background information. Another great strike of the Dresden State-Library! Gruß Stefan
  11. Here is the Major Leopold Gottschalch's big medal bar, one of the best Saxony bars that I have seen. Leopold had HOH3X but for some reason not mounted on this bar, any idea? Some information I have gethered about our guy: Born 22th June 1870 in Dresden, became Royal Saxon Major on 11th July 1913 and commander of the I./ 1. Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr. 12. With the outbreak of WW1 he had RAO4 and Albrechts order Knight 1st class with the crown and got the swords to this award on 10th February 1915. Gottschalch received the HOH3x on May 5, 1917, and Knights Cross of the Military Order of St. Henry on 14th April 1918 as Commander of the Reserve-Fußartillerie-Regiment 12. Anyone got a photo of him or more information?
  12. Hi all, and here the second one. It shows a unknown saxon colonial official with a nice combination of awards: KO4Xw DSWA-Denkm. for fighters SA3bX On the right side (next to his leg) is stamped the year 1908.....So we have to search for someone who had the nice combination of KO4Xw and SA3bX and who served also in Halle/a.S. in 1908! He has to be one of the following candidates: ProvAmtAssistent Bannier Karl DSWA KrO4xw 1907 SA3bx 1908 ProvAmtInsp Engst August R. DSWA KrO4xw 1907 SA3bx 1908 Intendanturreg Kemter Georg DSWA Feldintendantur KrO4xw 1907 SA3bx 1907 ProvAmtAssistent Kießling Karl F. DSWA KrO4xw 1907 SA3bx 1908 Feldlazarethinspektor Posselt Eduard DSWA Romansdrift KrO4xw 1907 SA3bx 1908 ObVeter Scholz Paul DSWA 1. Feldregiment (beritten) KrO4xw 1906 SA3bx 1906 Proviantamtassistent Schulze Emil O. DSWA KrO4xw 1907 SA3bx 1908 ProvAmtskontrolleuer Hille Ernst Hermann DSWA Karib KrO4xw 1907 SA3bx 1908 and Ober Intend. Sekr. Seifert who received also KO4Xw and SA3bX who is shown in "Rangliste der Intendanturbeamten für 1914 ". Seifert was born in 1873. So we have 9 candidates in total.I hope that of of them served in Halle/a.S. in 1908 Thanks a lot and best regards Karsten
  13. Meine Herren, attached pic. shows JOHANNES Felix Müller from IR 104 in 1885 as a young Fähnrich at Cassel War school. Sources say, he fell on March 6th 1915 as Oberstleutnant and Cdr.(?) of Ersatz-Regiment-9 (is this Landwehr-Ersatz-Inf.Rgt. 9, then IR 354?) What I´m looking for is his birth-date/place. Maybe someone have a later photo of him Viele Grüße Stefan
  14. The formidable Dresden state library has now all 3 vol. of this scarce basis work online Schuster/Francke: Geschichte der Sächsischen Armee Bd. 1 Schuster/Francke: Geschichte der Sächsischen Armee Bd. 2 Schuster/Francke: Geschichte der Sächsischen Armee Bd. 3 Gruß Stefan
  15. Hello, here is another nice photo of Saxon Hauptmann Arnold Frölich He received during the woar both iron crosses, Beobachter Abz, SA3aX (13 Arpil 1916) and the crown to the SA3aX (18 January 1917). This photo has been taken in October 1916. Christophe
  16. Recently I am fortunate enough to buy this nice photo of Saxon officer showing his medal bar with his SAR1KD, EK2 1870 and D 70/71. With research I can put a name on this nice photo : This photo was taken in 1887 and he was Hauptmann. His name is Moritz Schneider (born in 1848). The most interesting thing doing research is about the SAO. I have found that he received the SAO in 1900. But after looking through the Saxon RL, I have found he has received SAOXaR in 1907. This information is confirmed by the article of Schulze-Ising published in OMM in 1990. The only problem is in the Roth’s book there is no date to put on it. For Roth the only SAO awarded to Schneider is without XaR. So the question is : is there a mistake about writing orders in the RL or is Schneider received both orders ? So if someone has more information about this officer let me know/ Thanks per advance He received the following orders and medals : SAR1KD : 1.10.1870 SAO : 20.06.1900 SAOXaR : 1907 SV3a : 4.07.1889 EK2 1870 : 6.11.1870 El zu EK2 : 1895 DAK : 16.4.1892 RAO4 : 10.09.1889 D 70/71 : 1871 PZM : 22.03.1897 SCM : 1907 PRKM2 : 22.02.1910 SEHC2 : 1898 His promotions : Kadet : 1864 Fähnrich : 1869 Sekond-Leutnant :29.07.1870 Premier-Leutnant : 23.02.1875 Hauptmann : 1.04.1881 Major : 16.09.1891 Oberstleutnant : 12.09.1896 Oberst : 26.03.1899 z. 18. Gentlemen, I have this nice Tellgmann photo in my collection. It shows us all three Sons of King Frederic August III. in their Leibgrenadier-Uniforms. Crown Prince Georg (1rst), Ernst Heinrich (3rd) and Friedrich Christian (4th.) On the backside there´s a handwritten inscription which dates it from 1904. But I think it was taken between 1906-1909/10.
  19. Dear friends, here is a medal bar that I think is a bit unusual, I'm having hard time figuring out the criteria of such a combination and origin. It features a centenary medal, a service medal from Saxony Kingdom, no other Saxony awards but a Saxe-Weimar order of white falcon. Please share your thought. Sorry for the fuzzy picture, I will take more photo when I have the chance.
  20. If anyone has the ribbon bar of General Haase please contact me. I have a photo of him wearing it.

  22. Hello readers. I came across a copy of the St.Henry Knights Cross award document to the Lt.d.Res. Karl-Vincent KROGMANN dated 5.April 1916. The reference book on the St.Henry lists him as commander of 2.Battery, Kgl.Saechs.Feld-.Art.Rgt. 115. He was born on 3 March, 1889 in Hamburg and was a merchant by profession. The action for which he was decorated took place on 27 Sept. 1915 on the Eastern Front with the 58.Inf.Div.. He acted as forward observer and gave valuable information which enabled the German artillery to place fire in a way to collapse the Russian attacks. The rear guard could then separate itself from the enemy without contact. Bernhard H. Holst
  23. What are the chances of finding someone who will trade or sell a nice quality Saxon enlisted infantry mutze to complete my LGR100? I can't find one in condition to match the tunic which is in near mint condition btw... Maybe a headgear collector wants to trade...
