  1. Hi everybody, I have a nice photo with three saxon officers. I think I have id two and the last one is a little bit difficult. but I think that this man is Carl Wahle (later Generalleutnant). Can someone confirm my hypothese, thanks Christophe
  2. Hi everybody, Here is a new photo for my collection. The officer is Paul Muttray from IR 102, he wore the saxon trio + both EK. but what's the badge under the EK1. Thanks for your help. Christophe
  3. Can anybody say what rank one would have been to be given the gold medal. Thanks Yankee
  4. Hi all , does anyone know how many SAO 1st class wo swords that was awarded ? I´m thinking of buying one , but don´t know what would be a resonably price ? Christer
  5. The bar is 100% original and untouched, but it is puzzling to me that there are no swords on this brave soldiers SEHO3b especially in light of the Hesse "Tapferkeit" medal that is present. Comments?
  6. Hi everybody, Here is the last gift from my wife. Thanks to her This ribbon bar belonged to Major Rudolf Friedrich Ludwig Uth (1880-1928) Fähnrich : 25.08.1901 Leutnant : 22.08.1902 Oberleutnant : 23.005.1911 Hauptmann : 21.05.1914 Major : 01.04.1923 His ribbon bar is composed by following ribbons : SH3 : 7.01.1915 SA3aXKr : he received the crown to SA3aX : 1918 / SA3aX : 20.01.1916 EK2 : date unknown HHO3X : 29.09.1917 BMv4bX : date unknown HH : date unknown ÖM3K : date unknown He also received the EK1 : date unknown Here is Uth in the Reichswehr Rangliste and the ribbon bar. Christophe
  7. Hi everybody, I would like to share with you my new treasure. It is a very nice Saxon officer ribbon bar. It is composed by the following ribbons : EK2 : iron cross 2nd class SH3 : knight cross for St Henry of Saxe. SA3aX : : knight cross 1st class with X of Albert Order of Saxe SV3bX or SV3aX : knight cross 2nd class with X of Merit Order of Saxe (or knight cross 1st cl) SA3bX : knight cross 2nd class with X of Albert Order of Saxe EfF : Hindenburg cross WH DA : Whermacht long service WH DA : Whermacht long service This combo is not unique but it is very interesting. Indeed, after doing some small research, I have found that 28 Saxon officers have received, during WW1, SH3, SV3bX, SA3aX, SA3bX and EK2. Only one Saxon officer has received the SH3, SV3aX, SA3aX, SA3bX and EK2. Few of them were in the Reichswehr, so I can eliminate a lot of candidates. Only four names are keeping on my short list : Agricola, Friedrich Lahode and Olbricht. The only one candidate with the SV3aX is Pflugbeil, the officer who received the SH2b. During WW2, Kurt Agricola was a Generalleutnant and has received the claps to his iron cross ribbon 2nd class. There is nothing more to add to his ribbon bar. So it could be him ! He may wear his ribbon with claps to his uniform at the second buttom. Generalleutnant Rudolf Friedrich has received the claps to his iron cross 2nd class and the winter medal. Same as Agricola he could wore his both ribbons to his uniform. Generalleutnant Kurt Lahode has no claps to his iron cross 2nd class (from my source) but it is not sure at 100%. General der Infanterie Kurt Olbricht has received the claps to his iron cross 2nd class and probably the ribbon for war merit cross 2nd class. Generalleutnant Johann Pflugbeil has received the claps to his iron cross 2nd class. Another collector here, thanks to him (E. W) has photos of Agricola, Friedrich, Olbricht and Pflugbeil. No photo of Lahode is known for the moment. On the photo of Olbricht we can clearly see that he has the same combo (except the claps to his EK2) than my ribbon bar. So it can be one of him before the WW2 !!! Pflugbeil has a similar one. I have no photo of Friedrich and Agricola showing their ribbon bar. Have a look of this nice ribbon bar. If someone has got photos of the two missing officers, please post the photos here. Thanks Christophe
  8. Anyone here who was the lucky winner ? one eleven awards long with Sachsen, Braunschweig,Waldeck, and god knows what , and another 7 awards long with Sachsen goodies ... Real beauties but very expensive close to 400 Euro for two bars , but quite bad pics and no returns. Maybe it was this years best deal Have a good collectors 2012 everyone
  9. Hi everybody, This morning I have received this nice photo of saxon officer showing a very nice ribbon bar. This one is composed by : Knnight cross of St Henry knight cross 2nd class with X of Merit Order Knight cross 2nd class with X of Albert Order Iron cross 2nd class Knight cross with X of House Order of Hohenzollern ?, seems to have swords, but not sure. Hanseatic cross of Bremen Our man received the iron cross 1st class too. On the back of the photo his name is written Dietrich Bischoff, or Diedrich Bischoff. Thanks for your help to id the antepenultimate ribbon. Christophe
  10. Here's a medal bar that I picked up a while back. It is really sad to see a guy's life hacked apart......
  11. Hi, Here is my new Saxon officer ribbon bar. The combo is very interesting. When I saw it before buying it I thought it will be easy to id this bar. Hélas non ! Indeed, after reading the Reichswehr Ranglisten, I have found exactly one officers who wore the same Imperial combo : SH3, SV3aX, SA3aXKr, EK2, HHO3X I have found two others officers who wore one medal more, the SDA. Oberst Schubert Oberstleutnant Körner Our man was still alive after 1934, he received the Hindenburg cross and he wore the two Whermacht long services. He probably decided not to wear the Saxon long service ribbon but only the two Whermacht ribbons. I have a doubt. Indeed our man has received the Albert Order without cross before the war and it is probably the clue. So I decide to look after all the officers who received the HHO3X during the war. The list contains 182 names. After some research I have a short list of 10 names and only two wore the SA3a before the war. Oberstleutnant Wilhelm Frhr von Hammerstein-Loxten Major Emil Schmidt. I have nothing after 1932. I don’t know if they were reactived after 1935 So if someone has got information about those two officers, thanks for your help. Christophe
  12. I have a question. All materials I have on the Fredrich August Medal refers to a medal with grades of Bronze and Silver. Please refer to the photos that follow. It appears I have a Fredrich August Medal in Gold? Note the difference in patina when compared to the War Assiatance Cross or the Combatant Hindenburg Cross. Any ideas?
  13. Hi everybody, Today I have received small packet inwhich there is official box for saxon long service medal for officer. On the front there is inscription D A K for Dienstauszeichnung Kreuz Christophe
  14. Hi everybody, Here is one of my new photo showing Prussian Major von Eberstein. He died during Franco-Prussian war. I can recognize on photo the following orders and medals : - Knight cross with X of House Order of Hohenzollern - Cross 3rd class with bow and swords on ring of the Red Eagle Order - Cross 4th class with swords of the Red Eagle Order - 1866 War medal - Hohenzollern medal 1848-1849 - Prussian long service medal - Knight cross of Saint Henry of Saxe (received on 27 May 1849). He received the SH3 as second lieutenant of the Prussiang Gren Regt Kaiser Alexander. If someone has more info, thanks per advance. My first Rangliste begin in 1914. Christophe
  15. Hi everybody, Here is my new baby ! The combo is very interresting. Indeed this officer received the SA3aXKr and the OFA2 with claps. The EK device is very big for the ribbon bar, but I like it a lot. Christophe
  16. Hello to everyone, I picked this medal bar up at the MAX show. I have seen the German P.O.W. medal in a buttonhole version but not on medal bar. Just wanted to share. Dean
