  1. Hello, A friend of mine has this painting and we are wondering about the identity of the pilot. Somebody suggested that he might be Oberleutnant Paul Leim. I would like to have your opinion please. Thanks Demir
  2. Hi, Here are some books on the Ottoman Turkish Orders and Medals: 1. Osmanlı Madalyalar ve Nisanlar Belgelerle Tarihi - Ottoman Medals and Orders Documented History by METİN ERÜRETEN 2. 3. Hi everbody, I have a medal order but i don't know it's a fake or not. I think it's a Medjidie medal so an old order (1830-1861), but the stones here seem to be rhinestone. Do somebody have any informations about what it could be?
  4. When visiting a museum some years ago, think it was in Paris, I saw a painting of a man wearing a group of decorations with a Turkish award unknown to me. I did made some effort trying to figure out what is was with all the online ressources I could find - but failed. For some strange reason I only took this photo and not the full picture, Now I have bought this little group, and what I believe must be an Turkish award resembles the one on the painting although it seems to be inverted. Again I have failed to find out what it is. The Order of Saint Louis is not a miniature, but seems to be a "reduction" beeing 25 mm wide and is worn from a combined ribbon where the Turkish ribbon appears as well. The Turkish award is 20 *33 mm. Now I have the following questions: 1. What is it I have here? 2. Given the size, is it a full size award, a "reduction" or a miniature? 3. Is this the same decoration as on the painting, a different class or ...? The painter could have inverted it by mistake? If not, what is the person on the painting wearing? Regards, Lars Now some closeup photos:

  7. Hello, on the past weekend, I've paid a visit to the flea market of Piazzola sul Brenta; one of northern Italy's best places for collectors of any field (including militaria, orders and decorations). There, I've had the chance to buy a portrait photo of prince Osman Fuad, wearing the field grey uniform of a prussian Hussard regiment, and various high orders and decorations. The cardboard base, bears the autographed signature/date: Osman Fuad Prinz des Osmanischen Reiches 20.11.1917 Searching the web, I've learnt that this man had a very interesting life. Best wishes, Enzo (E.L.)

  17. Guys, Looking over all the stuff in the medal frame, I thought I would post this up. I have just been reading an article in the May/Jun International militaria-Magazine about these. I had no idea there were so many variations out there to collect. Jock
  18. Hi there, from a man who died in 1903 there is only one of twelve awards left. For five of six Prussian and Wuerttemberg meanwhile we found out that the regulations said that the award has to be returned. The man also got the 3rd and 2nd class of the Order of Medjidje . Does anybody know if there was a obligation of return for this order? Thanks. Michael
  19. Attached are images of the Turkish War Medal which Willy Tischbein was entitled to wear since the 12. August 1917( see http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/37362-who-is-grovater-tischbein/?hl=Tischbein). Is one of the gents aware of the (German) maker of this stamped silver version? Both Godet and Maybauer have been suggested. The two photgraphs seem to have been taken during meetings with the Turkish allies.
  20. Gentlemen please help me to translate this award document.
