  1. Here are four groups I bought which arrived today. I thought that I’d share them with you! Among them are a decorated Baden officer, a pre-war DSWA veteran, a pre-war Boxer Rebellion veteran with the Crown Order medal, & a WW1 veteran who served in the Tyrol & Silesia post-war. I hope you enjoy!
  2. What do youn think about this ? Offered for sale now, Zaehringer Loewen Knight first class , sorry for the small pics but can you see anything disturbiing ? Best regards Christer

  4. Can someone help me find more information on this person and the event around the award? Maybe someone has literature or knows the actions that this unit took part. 1fd. If it is a LSC it should be at the end, maybe it is something else What are the two Baden awards? Any help is appreciated.
  8. New ribbon bars, the lower bar from Baden has been ID'd to Kapitänleutnant Herman Jung I think.
  9. I hope this is still available after I win the Lottery tomorrow night!!!! http://www.emedals.com/collectors-gallery/germany/german-medal-bars/imperial-medal-bars/a-fine-wwi-period-medal-bar-g11434 and this one also: http://www.emedals.com/collectors-gallery/germany/german-states/prussia/medals/golden-military-merit-cross-nco-s-plm/a-cased-golden-military-merit-cross-by-wagner-g11435
  10. Another common medal on ribbon bar threads, but deserving of its own thread. Show your singles...
  11. Hi Guys, Trying to find some information on this man "Kempf" Does anyone have access to any award rolls for the Karl Friedrich Militär-Verdienst-Medaille. Could this be a winner http://www.vintageaviation.net/kempf1.htm I am looking at purchasing this award so any opinions would be welcome,
  12. Hi I am looking for the exact date on an 'early' (as in pre imperial) award of this order to Albrecht v. Roon. It was in 1867, but I would like to know the exact date and maybe the reason why. thanks so much regards David
  13. Guys, A small group to a Dr Lamprecht, Inf Regt 169. Sadly still only the ribbon bars and bits n bobs. It was posted up on WAF a while back. I suppose you guys will appreciate it more. Jock:)
  14. This beautiful deluxe South German style ribbon bar has been driving me nuts since November 1994. Identifying this officer has been a frustrating, irritating chore. Unlike other anonymous bars, it's as if he's been fighting me all the way NOT to be identified. Been down more red herring blind alleys than I can even remember BUT thanks to seeheld's Mecklenburg-Schwerin WW1 Rolls and to Dave Danner's recent trip to the Baden archive, have finally GOT him. 1) EK2 2) BZ3bE without swords (1913/14 see below ) 3) Prussian XXV (1920) 4) MMV2 (26.04.15: also MMV1 02.11.16) 5) BMV4X (29.11.14) 6) ??? this appears to be a Hessian Philipps Orden (HP3b) : cannot account for THIS ribbon 7) Lippe Detmold War Honor Cross (LKr) 8) Austro-Hungarian Military "War" ribbon (must be a ÖM3K) 9) 1897 Centenary Medal 10) ??? Baden 1906 Commemorative Medal (only by position and never never never NEVER found on correct ribbon ) 11) Baden 1902 Jubilee Medal From numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 11--7:11 matches this could only have been worn by Friedrich Keding born (date unknown) in Dorf Mecklenburg Served in Baden Feldart Rgt 30 to creation of Baden FAR 66 in 1899 (transferred), then ther until promotion to Captain, when transferred to FAR 15. By April 1915 he was battery commander 2./ RFAR 58, severely wounded June 1915, still in that regiment November 1916-- Leutnant 18.04.96 Bb Oberleutnant 21.03.08 V Hauptmann 01.10.12 C30c Major 18.10.18 N7n aD that rank, alive 1926. WHY he splurged on the fancy schmancy ribbons and THEN chose to omit ALL X devices etc.... arrrgh. I lost YEARS trying to fit a BZ3bEX onto what had to be a wartime Hauptmann/retired Major group. If it wasn't for seeheld and Dave I'd be in a padded cell about now!!!! Sources: Prussian annual Rank Lists, Prussian wartime Seniority Lists, unpublished MMV Rolls 1914-1918, unpublished Baden 1902 RJM Roll, pre-war Baden officer record, Preuß. Verlustliste Nr. 271 10.07.15 (seeheld/Dave/Dave/Dave) Erhard Roth's 1997 "Verleihungen von militärischen Orden und Ehrenzeichen des Königreichs Bayern im Ersten Weltkrieg 1914-1918"
  15. Hello Gents, Could someone please give me some advice about this medal: to clean or not clean this Silberne Verdienstmedaille Baden. Kriegsmetal seems to clean very difficult. The scan of the medal looks better than the medal .... kind regards and lot of thanks, Jef
  16. Hi all, It has been a long time when I last posted under that section. Anyway, I was able to pick up one pretty nice pre 1914 trapezoid medal bar from Baden. I was actually so "rusty" that weren't even able to ID the first ribbons.... I put the blame to the bad pictures because the bar isn't arrived yet and those few glasses of vino, that I had . Anyway, what we have here is stripped Baden bar with the following awards: - Baden: Order of the Zähringer Lion - Austria: Order of the Iron Crown - Prussia: 1870/71 Franco Prussian War Commemorative medal - Prussia: 1897 Centenary medal - Baden: 1902 Jubilee medal Really interesting combination but probably impossible to trace like RR confirmed to me already (thank you for that and again - it's great to see you back!). Anyway, as a student, financial side do not allow me to get that bar fixed and I leave it to the new owner when it moves. I may start it and get the 1870/71 Prussian medal and Baden jubilee to the end. lets see how it goes. What kind of money we are talking about regards the first two correct period awards? Any comments and suggestions would be great. When that little bugger is arrived to Dublin, I will post some better pictures as well. Regards, Timo aka Noor
  17. All, Does anyone have the award dates of the BV1 to the following recipients? Wilhelm Prinz von Preussen ( Kaiser Wilhilm I) Friedrich von Wrangel Kronprinz Friedrich von Preussen Friedrich Karl Prinz von Preussen Albrecht von Roon Friedrich Franz II Grossherzog von Mecklenburg-Schwerin August von Werder Thanks in advance. John
  18. Hi guys, I already know, it´s a hard work, but I started to collect names of the Militär Verdienst Ordens. The first list I put together it´s from April 1807: April 4th 1807: ORDENS: Generallieutenant Joseph von CLOSSMANN, Commandeur Kreuz Obersten von STETTEN Commandeur des Regiment von Harrant Premierlieutenant und Adjutant Seuther, vom Reg. Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie Obersten Eichrodt von Reg. Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie Oberstlieutenant Gottfried v. Tannstein von Reg. Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie Major Brückner von Reg. Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie Major v. Canerin vom Regiment Markgraf Ludwig Husaren Hauptmann Fein vom Regiment Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie Hauptmann Brigade Major Keßler von Regiment Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie Staabs Capitän Brückner von Regiment Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie Premierlieutenant Schach von Regiment Markgraf Ludwig Infanterie GOLDENE MEDAILLE: Corporal Schönthal vom HusarenRegiment MarKgraf Ludwig Husar Preistg vom HusarenRegiment MarKgraf Ludwig Feldwebel Degler vom Regiment v. Corporal Schmidt Scharfschütz Becherer Scharsschütz Reichling Scharfschütz Walthner Mousquetier Arrier Mousquetier Neu sämmtlich vom Leibregiment GroßHerzog I really dont´know if this could be considered a complete list of the awarded of that month of 1807. Is there anybody could add some more or ? Thank you Daniele
  19. Hi guys, Here is another bar that I brought home with me from the recent SOS. I have always had an affinity for TR police medal bars, so it is hard to resist buying them. I hope I am not polluting the Imperial section with this bar, but it does have a couple of Imperial decorations on it. The Baden Silver Merit Medal looks to be the early type in genuine silver and it is black with tarnish. Best regards, Tom
  20. All, I saw a couple of illustrations in the Geschichte des Grossherzoglich Badisch Leib-Grenadier Regiments 1803-1871 on Google books and am interested in their career highlights, Awards, etc. They are: GL Stockhorn von Starein this was hard to read in the books script, it ould be wrong GL Eugen von Freydorff Thans in advance. John
  21. Would I be right in thinking that this medalbar belonged to some sort of doctor who also helped out in the Herero and Nama rebellions. The steel version of this medal went only to stay-at-homes, so could he have been organizing medical supplies? Also, were doctors issued long service awards (considered as officers?) Thanks very much
