  9. Hi everyone! Just won this bar today! I know it's Hessen and not complete/correct (medals in wrong order, and the 1930 sports medal just really doesn't fit! ). I want to eventually restore it to its original glory and I wanted to check with you all to see what the first medal should me. I'm sure I know the answer, but wanted to double check first... ??? 14. I recently purchased this officer's schirmmutze for Husaren-Regt. Konig Humbert von Italien ( 1.KurHessiches) Nr.13. It's a bit " salty", but displays well, I believe. I hope to acquire more Imperial German cavalry schirmmuttzen, as I find them most attractive. Comments most appreciated. Thanks.
  15. Hello Can anybody shed some light on the Golden Lion & Wilhem Order 1816-66 variant knight examples that have that transparent enamel design. The vast majority I come across are the opaque ( cloudy ) enamel type. When were they awarded and by which jeweler. Possible Elector Frederick William awarded them in exile 1866-75 from Austria. The quality, weight and size are nearly identical to both knights. Thanks in advance.

  22. Here is a nice post 1939 ribbon bar which belonged to a Hesse veteran of WWI who fought in Turkey and gained the Liyakat medal and Iron Halfmoon. Somewhere in his career he managed to tie in service with Austria and Bulgaria. After WWI he joined the Freikorps and was awarded the Silesian Eagle medal. In WWII he was awarded the KVK X, sadly the swords have fallen from this piece. Probably an NCO ribbon bar?
