  4. Hi, any guesses? I think it is 2nd Aufklärungs Comp in Glau ?
  5. Hello I am new to the forum and I would like to show you the uniform I found in a friends attic a few days before Christmas this year. His father was a Private First Class in the US 2nd Infantry Division and came onto Omaha Beach D-Day X 2 From the story I am now getting from the man is his father was part of the group that liberated Leipzig-Schönefeld which was a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp. I guess his father found this uniform at the camp because some of the SS Soldiers that were working there changed out of their uniforms into civilian attire when the US forces were getting close. Anyway this uniform was sitting in my friends fathers attic for years. He said his brother and him used to dress up in the uniform when they were kids playing WAR. I hope you enjoy the photos and any comments or questions are welcome.

  9. Guys, I am aware that there is some controversy on another forum about these, I am happy with them . The other four blank tags came out the ground in Fallingbostel. I thought I would try scanning for a change, it is a Brother Laser printer/scanner.
  10. Guys, This was in a pile of paper and I noticed that the Adolf stated that Heinz was one of his Grüppenfuhrers? Kevin, you are normally quite good at this sort of thing, any thoughts? Regardless I like the fact that he has taken the time to write to the NOK to try and give some sort of closure even after the war.
  11. I am trying to research SS Obersturmfuher Ernst Guckes who served in SS Wirtschaftsverwaltungshauptamt (not known which Amt) and later 3 SS (Panzer) Nachrichten Abteilung His SS number is 312 767, any help appreciated Many thanks, Paul
  12. Hello, This helmet cover is from my buddies collection as I do not really collect SS items . My buddy purchased this cover way back in the early to mid 1970's . This cover was taken from the storeroom in Dachau several days after it was liberated . This cover is unissued and to me unfinished .If you closely at several of the pictures you will see this strips of material sticking up out of the helmet this is how the spring is attached to the helmet cover . A triangular piece of scrap material was passed through the top loop of the spring and pulled upwards then the long rectangular piece of cammo cloth was placed over the spring , this is the cover for the retaining clip spring .The scrap of material would stick out from this rectangular material and be sewn together . After being sewn together the tips of the scrap material should have been cut off , but as you can see this was never done . As this is not my field of collecting your comments and opinions would be welcome. Sorry I took the pictures with a cell phone and did not have a helmet to stretch it on to give a better view of its true shape. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-83330300-1424639520.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-83330300-1424639520.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-87820000-1424639981.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-54978000-1424640030.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-79800500-1424640080.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-28317600-1424640210.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-98083400-1424640264.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-65421000-1424640308.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-18898100-1424640352.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-1208-0-77538500-1424640393.jpg

  14. I have been offered a cuff title with the one word in italic lettering "LEIBSTANDARTE" Band is not bevo but is a black material with a vertical rib Lettering was silver in colour now tarnishinig to a bronze/brown colour which is much more pronounced on the lettering. The edge stripes are less tarnished. The backing to the letters is a light brown cloth. The source is good but not guaranteed to be pre45. I have trolled google and the few books I have but cannot find a cuff title with just the word LEIBSTANDARTE. Has anyone seen or know of such a title? Gordon

  19. OK - not strictly German !! Just picked up this nice example of a Mussert Cross. These were awarded by the NSB leader to men serving in the Dutch formations of the Waffen-SS. Hitler prohibited the wearing of the award on German uniforms, but it could be worn on the uniforms of the Dutch Nazi paramilitaries such as the NSB and the WA. Over 1000 of these were dug up in the garden of Mussert's HQ in The Hague in May, 1945. The black-and-white photos show the crosses being dug up, and one of the crosses found that day. The cased awards were contained within many separate boxes, some of which had been penetrated by water, etc., resulting in some of the crosses found being in better condition than others!
