  1. There is another field of interest to the Luftwaffe badge collector, this being the qualification badges issued to members of the German Luftwaffe who served with the other Axis Powers. Not only did these Luftwaffe flight crews wear the normal German qualification badges, but those who flew with any of the other Axis forces were also entitled to wear the corresponding badge issued by that particular Country.. Axis Countries. Germany. Italy. Japan. Hungary. Rumania Bulgaria. Independent State of Croatia (NDH) As with most Axis medals, awards and badges, both German and locally manufactured examples will be encountered. First up, the Bulgarian Observers badge. Made by the specialist German manufacturer ?Friedrich Sedlatzek? and personalized with the initials ?TK?.. The same badge can be seen, being worn, by a DKiG winner, in the photograph, below..
  2. Dear Gentlemen, I would like to show you my small collection of awards and documents of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) 1941-45. Let`s start First a mounted group which consists of the small (35 mm) Silver Ante Pavelic Bravery Medal and the Wound Medal with ribbon for one wound. Front
  3. Hello friends Who knows if this medal is an original or a copy? How much would you price it? Thanks
  4. Hello everyone! I was hoping someone could tell me the significance of the small Croatian Coat of Arms attached to the ribbon of the Bronze Medal of the Order of King Zvonimir's Crown? It is only listed as being on the bronze medal in Borna Barac's book, and not for the silver or iron grades. Thank you! Jason
  5. Hi again, everyone! Just purchased this a today and was wondering if you think this may be the gold (gilt) version? It seems that the gold wash applied to the wound medals wore off pretty easily, but this one appears to have some remaining (or just my imagination), especially on the suspension. Also, what exactly differentiated one receiving a gold vs. iron version? I know the gold version was for more serious wounds, but what were the determining factors? Thanks again Jason
  6. Hi everyone! OK, I'm not seeing it, so what is the difference between the 3rd. & 4th. classes of the Order of the Iron Trefoil? They're both the same size (right?), etc., so what am I missing? Photos would help as well! Thanks! Jason
  7. I've found this one today at our Militaria show, would you guys break the news to me, good or bad find? I'm Serbo-Croatian in my heritage and family history so I love that I was able to purchase this one Just not sure if its real or fake, there are a lot of fakes out there and I want to ask you guys, the experts on these medals It has what looks like silver hallmark on the side of the medal and either BK or SK on the hallmark on the upper ring Ring has BK Medal itself has a bird on the side (or Helmet, depends how you look at it) I'm assuming this is a silver hallmark? (click to expand Thank you all for any comments, it is greatly appreciated Igor
  8. I've been looking at Croatia, who have developed an interesting 'take' on awards, with a whole bunch of single-class orders which all look quite similar but are awarded for different things. There are several main categories of order. First are the 'grand orders' which all consist of sash, sash badge and star. The sash in every case is a glorious thing: white with one blue edge and one red one, the edges bearing an ornate looping gold pattern (or a double gold/yellow stripe on the ribbon bar). The premier one of these is the Grand Order of King Tomislav. This was instituted on 20 June 1992, with a revision on 1 April 1995. It is awarded, according to the statutes, to those who have contributed to the improvement of the standing of Croatia internationally, development of international relations, etc... in effect, it is given to foreign Heads of State. Here is the badge: The badge is based around the letter H with a central circular gold medallion depicting a historical Croatian monarch sitting on a throne with the state arms above (I am still figuring all the symbology out, the only descriptions I've found are in Croatian so it's a slow process!)
  9. Hi, fyi, the dealer KP Emig has a couple of pages of WW2 Croatian stuff on his update. I think a rare enough event to warrant the heads up.... http://www.kpemig.de/Neue-Artikel-060116_s11 http://www.kpemig.de/Neue-Artikel-060116_s10
  10. Hello Gents... I was collecting NDH militaria, and I never knew if I have an original or a fake Croatian air legion badge!!! Some collectors said original, other fake, so I decided to clear things out!! I had aprox 5 different types, sadly I didn't took any pictures when I was younger, so I browsed the net a little bit, and I find 4 different types which I will post on this topic. I have found 3-4 bades more, but they are obvious fakes, so I wont post those! Please identifie these badges, cause I have heard there were 3 original types, two Croatian made, and one German, and two enameled and one painted version! Please contribute with your knowledge! Thanks in advance Joseph AD 1. badge

Paul
  12. Greetings All. Like another post I put up, I bought a very nice Commander's Medal titled “Phocus Orden Zagrabia" at an auction. Here again, I know it has to do with Zagreb, but know little else. There is an owl on it, which leads me to believe it may be from the German-speaking association (starts with "Schar... - forgot the rest). Any light you can shed on this medal would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Linas
  13. Greetings All. I just purchased a wonderful breast star at auction, which is entitled “Zagrabia Grünbusch”. I know it is associated with Zagreb, but know little else. It has crossed swords (see photo), which I typically associate with military. Any insight you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Linas
  14. Royal Marines hero Mark Grey has been awarded one of Croatia's highest military honours for saving a town of 20,000 people from being swept away in a flood when he dodged mines and sniper bullets to save a dam from bursting its banks. Retreating Serb troops had deliberately rigged the dam in Peruca to blow as they fled, engulfing the Croatian town underneath it during the Balkans conflict in 1993. Colonel Grey - then part of the UN peace keeping force - had been under strict orders to remain neutral. But when he saw what the fleeing troops were planning, he sprinted to the top of the dam to open a sluice gate to allow thousands of gallons of water to flow harmlessly away before the charges blew, saving the town. And this week he was awarded the Order of Duke Domagoj by Croatian president Ivo Josipovic for his bravery. Read the complete article and view an image of Col Grey: http://austriantimes.at/news/Around_the_World/2013-01-29/46694/Hero_Marines_Bravery_Gong Jean-Paul
  15. Hello, I pick up this tunic from ebay, a week ago and I was wondering if anyone knew what it was? The tunic have what looks to be a croatian stamp on the inside but could it just had been made in Croata. The tunic the seller told me that he got it out of the USSR when the wall came down. Any comments would be helpful.
  16. Looks like a Ustascha badge from 1941 to 1944 ? Has somebody information about this Croatian badge, from which time period it is and for what is was awarded? thanks and regards Andreas
  17. Is this Croatian Air Legion Badge an original one?
  18. Hi Y'all could need a little help with this pilots badge which was offered to me. My knowledge about these are really know. I compared it with pics from another badge (second model) and found some differences. There is no marker mark on the backside. The pin safety looks different. The front and back has soft details and looks like a casting. Any comments are wellcome

  21. Hello All , Spotted this 1957 German Ribbon bar on Ebay i fancy buying but which awards are indicated by the last 2 ribbons ? I thought the 2nd to last looks like the ribbon for the American silver star or are they both Croatian ? Does the metal Croatian device on the last bar indicate a higher award ? Thanks in advance for any information i am totally ignorant of Croatian awards Cheers Grant Oh here,s the link : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
  22. Just recently won this ribbon bar. I seem to remember that #4 is something Croatian, but I can't remember what exactly. #3 eludes me entirely. Does anyone recognize either of these decorations? Thanks, --Chris
