  1. This MASSIVE chunk of silver (the star is about the same size as a Soviet Order of the Red Star) for a graduate of the first (?) Communist Class of the War Academy in 1951 is numbered 44: The badge, washer, and Zukov maker marked screw nut are all elaborately silver hallmarked-- Anybody got other ones? I have not seen any of these for years now. maybe they've all been smelted into bullion bars in the national treasury!
  2. Hi, unfortunately there is no book on Czechoslovak ODM available. It is a pity, because they are nice and well made. To improve their immage among collectors I will show some of them. Let´s start with one of oldest awards called Czechoslovak Revolutionary Medal (Československá revoluční medaile), which was established by Presidential Decree dated 1st December 1918. Medal is made from bronze, the author of design was famous French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. First pieces were produced in France, following restrikes in Czechoslovakia by different producers. The width is 41-44 mm, the hight 47 mm. The width of ribbon is 38-41 mm. Several variants exist, dark bronze, light bronze, gilt, holow construction, with(without) designer´s initials etc. Several metal bars can be placed on the ribbon, numbers of regiments, places of service and battles, linden leafs or twigs. Veterans often did not follow rules and gave incorrect symbols on their medals. This medal is quite common, fakes dont exist . Jan
  3. Hello. Is the following badge from Czechoslovakia? Thanks. Linas
  4. Hello, I have an opportunity to buy a Czechoslovakia Order of the White Lion Commander III Class Civil Division Cross. Based on the photos provided, I have several questions: 1. Is this an original? 2. Is this from the ČSR 1922-1961 period? 3. Based on the photos, any way of determining a more exact date? a. First Czechoslovak Republic (1918–1938) b. Second Czechoslovak Republic (1938–1939) c. Czechoslovak government-in-exile (1939–1945) d. Third Czechoslovak Republic (1945–1948) e. Socialist Czechoslovakia (1948–1960) (I know the Statutes of the order were amended in 1924, 1930, and 1936.) 4. How many of these were issued in the Commander grade, Civil Class? 5. Approximately what is its value? Any information would be helpful. I did not yet buy it, so I cannot provide more photos. Thank you.
  5. Hi all, a bit of advice if I may request, I have had the attached Commander class order of the white lion in my collection for a number of years. It appears completely authentic, but I've noticed on the few other examples I've seen that the Centre lion always appears silver or silvered, my copy does not have this, there is no sign that any silver finish has been lost or that there was any in the first place, the whole item appears a natural gilt, is this normal or do I have another clunker. There are no visible hallmarks that I can see. If genuine, any value?? attached images, my own and one borrowed from "Najafcoins" website just to show the differences, The first is from Najafcoins and the other two are my scans regards Alex K
  6. Hello This is my czechoslovakian table flag. Snoopy
  7. I am researching a Star of the Order of the 25th February 1948, IE the first class, I can't seem to find any appearing in Czech auctions/dealers lists, does anyone know roughly how many were issued and has anyone ever seen one come up for sale. All the best, Paul
  8. Nice: silver, numbered and with screwnut+washer Haven't noticed a lot of these (although I haven't been actively looking) but certainly is appealing. Hopefully not a slippery slope to enter Czech...
  9. Dear Gentlemen! I need an important help about the Order of White Lion I have a claim case on Ebay. I sold a star and an empty case for the grand cross to the same buyer. The buyer said, he received the package, but there is only the empty box. It's unbelieveable to me! I'm packed well the star, and put it inside the case, under the black velvet. And packed well all together. So, I don't think the star is really missing. I think, the buyer just wants to abuse the "buyer protection" program, and wants to get back the price of the star. I have the slip of the registered package there is the weight of package when I sent. Maybe I can evidence to Ebay the sending if I can see the weight of the box and star separately. Of course, at this moment I can't weighing them. It would be very helpful, if somebody(or more) who have this medal in his collection could weighing the items. So, please give me the weight of this type of empty box and the star separately! I hope, somebody can help me! Thank you!
  10. I have recently visited the Army Museum in Prague where the orders of the interwar Czechoslovak presidents are on display and I thought I should share with you the images of these orders. 12. I am researching a Star of the Order of the 25th February 1948, IE the first class, I can't seem to find any appearing in Czech auctions/dealers lists, does anyone know roughly how many were issued and has anyone ever seen one come up for sale. All the best, Paul
  13. Hello gentlemen, I just owned from Aukro this dress uniform from a motorized rifles major, 1964-90 era with jacket, pants, visor hat and coat. On the last pic, an ensemble with 50th anniversary of communist party and 25th anniversary of the 1945 victory medals with boxes.
  14. All I can find is created in 1946. The obverse "For faithfulness 1939-1945" is rather inappropriate, since from what I can tell, this is for the May 1945 Prague uprising--continuing after the war had "ended." The "1st National Uprising" was crushed in Slovakia in 1944 when the approaching Red Army was bogged down in the Carpathian mountains for 9 months.
  15. Hi, I got today this nice Czech medal and ribbon bar. Can't find any information about it. Can someone help me please. Any info, value, etc would be great! AS far I can think its from 50-60s. Made from silver and thats it. Combat or labour award... no idea. Thanks for looking, Noor
  16. Hallo Gents, CESKOSLOVENSKA SOCIALISTICKA REPUBLIKA SLOVENSKE NARODINE POVSTANIE 1944-1964 http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2010/post-950-127429209782.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2010/post-950-127429211192.jpg picked this piece up last week here in Transylvania. I know next to nothing about it, but by looking at the 1944-64 dates I presume a commemorative piece. Kevin in Deva.
  17. Not a lot of information out there on this medal. Supposedly created in 1920 for volunteers who fought to protect the the new Czech state created afterWorld War I, especially against the Hungarian Bolsheviks. Not sure of its originality. Thoughts from the Czech experts?
  18. Hello gentlemen, here is a private uniform, motorized rifles 1964-1990, service dress from my collection. The jacket is dated 1983 , shirt 1987. Inner stamp Collar pin Sleeve patch Exemplary soldier and qualification badges Visor hat Close up on visor cap insigna Shirt Size patch
  19. Finaly first book about Czechoslovak (Slovak, Czech) airforce badges by Jiri Sehnal and Radek Palicka was published 3 weeks ago. It has 240 pages, ISBN 978-80-247-0 and contains more than 400 colour pictures with detailed english descriptions.
  20. First volume (out of four) of detailed encyklopedia about Czechoslovak legion in Russia was published today. It contains some 700 quality pictures mostly never published before. The chapter about decorations is a result of 30 years of reaserch in military archives. Besides other it describes 200 orders and medals awarded to Czech legionaries by governements of 12 states. Also all uniforms and rank insignias during our "anabasis" in Russia. Unfortunaly the book is in Czech only.
  21. Here is a small part of my Czech legion collection, hope you like it
  22. Greetings All. I just purchased what I was informed is a Czechoslovakia medal from WW2 In Exile forces for 1943-44, made in London. Can you please take a look at the photo and tell me if this is correct? Also, any information about the medal and/or the issuers would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, but I only have this one photo, which was on the auction site. Thank you. Linas
  23. Saw many things at the last local show, but this really appealed....
