  1. If someone has access to the 1870 EK awardee list please check for an awardee last name Lierow. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, I would like to share my 2 piece EKI (Deschlersohn) and 3 piece EKII collection (2 of them are magnetic) and would like to receive your opinios please. Thanks. Demir EKI (Deschlersohn) 1870 EKII 1914 Magnetic (a)
  3. Hi Gents, here is another one also on a medal bar. What do you think? Every help appreciated Kind regards Andreas
  4. Hi Gents, this cross is a part from a medal bar The cross saw some repairs as usual at the band ring, I belief it is a good one. Every help appreciated. Regards Andreas
  5. Hi Gentlemen , What do you think about this cross ? It´s for sale and I wonder if its genuine or not , ( sellers pics ) Is it possible to say something with these photos ? I have never handled a 1870 EK so I´m totally out of my comfort zone here Christer
  6. here's a typical godet cross in rough, marginally-relic condition. core needs a bit of maintenance. the thing that caught my eye, however, was the oak leaves. i didn't have this type yet. the oaks don't have splints on the back, and one of the threads attaching has partially broken http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2015/post-4736-0-79896500-1425755478.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2015/post-4736-0-26592500-1425755516.jpg http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2015/post-4736-0-79235800-1425755559.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2015/post-4736-0-27415600-1425755526.jpg http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2015/post-4736-0-90603700-1425758253.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2015/post-4736-0-78672300-1425758271.jpg
  7. Hello all. I have just bought this at a local auction. Although I collect miniatures only there's a few full size items I'd like to have, this is one of them. Everything felt right, but after having read this topic: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/2570-1914-clasp-to-1870-ek/ started by Gordon I'm not so sure, I didn't really realise that there were so many copies around. As I haven't paid yet I'd be happy to get some opinions from the more experienced friends in here, any comments? Lars
  8. Me for not knowing why it is so high... or the buyer for paying that much? http://www.ebay.de/itm/Eisernes-Kreuz-1-Klasse-von-1870-im-Etui-von-C-E-Juncker-Berlin-super-selten/141439631062?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D26269%26meid%3Dbda8274e08144b6e9595ac188d334205%26pid%3D100034%26prg%3D10944%26rk%3D7%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D321560046885
  9. Morning all A friend recently acquired two 1870 EK2's and sent me pictures of both. I was able to identify one as a "muffin crown" fake. The second is a little harder and would appreciate a helping hand. I don't like it but you never know.
  10. Hi all, a fairly simple question (I hope). Grand cross stars, one was produced in 1813, awarded once to Blucher, one produced in 1914, awarded to Hindenburg, one produced but not awarded in 1939, none for 1957 for obvious reasons, but what about 1870? Was one produced or existed from that period and if so was it ever awarded? Information seems scant even though copies or repros seem to exist, are these fantasy pieces? regards Alex K
  11. it never fails to amuse me when i observe these crosses listed and described as, "authentic period-made prinzen" crosses. they generally seem to command a price of approx USD 200 on militaria websites, and i'm sure the expert dealers know better, but are willing to risk a return. here is a complete example on original card that is still in it's shrink wrap. some enterprising youngster seems to have cut off the proof-of-purchase, ostensibly to acquire something even grander than this thing. ah, well.... http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2014/post-4736-0-26782300-1396993407.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2014/post-4736-0-10484100-1396993449.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2014/post-4736-0-97002500-1396993431.jpg
  12. Does anyone have any comments on this piece? Real? Fake? Sorry for the inconvience of having to click on the document. It was the only way I could post the photos on the thread/ medalpic.doc
  13. I have a medal bar from an Oberleutnant Mueller. All I know about him was that he was in the Feldartillerie and died in 1896. He was a veteran of the 1864 and 1866 wars as well. If anyone has more info on him, that would be a real bonus.
  14. Ive recently got a 1870 urkunde to a "Sekonde-Lieutenant Eduard Schultze im Hannoverschen Feld-Artillerie-Regiment No. 10", and was wondering if any additional information might surface regarding soldier or regiment... not my field, just wanted to frame a nice original to go with a type A. A very old thread also mentions a CD once for sale containing rankliste for all 1870 eks awarded. Has anyone got this info at hand to make deal? Thanks in advance guys. Best regards Alex
  15. Years ago I was at a show and a seller had an original pre WW1 roll of white ribbon. For the life of me I cannot remember what the details were, but the label was from a town thats name changed before WW1 or something like that... Anyway, it was obscenely expensive... but in retrospect I should have taken it all....
  16. Here is a nice one, no idea which unit though...
  17. Could someone please explain to me what the difference is between a "Type A" 1870 EK II, and a "Type B" 1870 EK II. Thank you.
  18. Dear Friends, This pair looks as good as it can, but I cant date the EK2. I would appreciate if someone knows from what period is the type in my pair. It came directly from the family so I would expect it to be original. (You still never know With best regards, Jani
  19. if anyone has any photos of 1870 clasps being worn, award documents or clasps themselves that can be used in a project, please contact me.... or post here.
  20. Hey Guys - I've been working on a project concerning the 1939 EK award document for the last few years. The draft is basically complete and typesetting will begin within the next few weeks. As part of the introduction, I'm hoping to include a couple representative 1870 EK award documents - ideally, I'd like to include one example for enlisted men and one for officers. EK1 documents are quite rare so examples of EK2 documents would be fine. If any one has examples I could include, please send me a PM. Full credit will be given. Thank you in advance Brian R.
  21. Came across a wonderful "little" title on my last research trip to the big city: A complete register of the winners of the 1870 Iron Cross with first names and units Some 1200 odd pages it contains the names of the winners from all contingents in all classes. Regards Glenn
  22. This is an interesting Document, after the death of Richard staeps, the family had to return some awards... but were allowed to keep the EK2, interesting because this was 1910, I think Wernitz wrote that officiall this was possible from 1913 onwards? It must have been allowed before ...
