  1. Hi, This medal is found in the USA. It has Preissler Pforzheim written on its pin. The medal itself is one of the worst made medals I have seen. IMO the pin is added on the fake medal recently. The pin might taken from another lapel pin made by this company. Best wishes Demir
  2. Here's my Pioneer of Labor. I've never seen another copy of this particular award although I'm sure there must be more out there: [attachmentid=55053] [attachmentid=55054] It's a nice, heavy piece. Dan
  3. Hi all, Here's a Fire Fighting medal: [attachmentid=63223] [attachmentid=63224]
  4. In order to avoid opening new topic every time I spot some fake I will post them all here. Here's the latest one from ebay - Order of Merits for the People 1st class. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yugoslavia-Order-of-the-National-Merit-with-Golden-Star-I-class-0323-/201199007621?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed8653785 http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2014/post-7937-0-06971400-1414248637.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2014/post-7937-0-15809900-1414248677.jpg
  5. I just noticed a terrible fake on ebay. There is of course no mention of this in the description, it is offered as Serbian Military Academy Badge 1860(!?)-1880 Rare. Even though photos are pretty bad I think it's obvious that the badge is not original. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-7937-0-43056100-1409684358.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-7937-0-04548000-1409684365.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-7937-0-72855000-1409684370.jpg
  6. Dear all, Last week I had to do a quick buy. I was offered this St. George cross 3rd class for non-Christians. The guy who sold it had "no idea" what is was. The only thing he could tell me is that he "dug this piece of metal up in Poland", after finding it with his metal detector. This was the only medal he was selling, all the other stuff were other findings he dug up. The price was really nice, so I had to act fast. I have no idea about Russian Imperial medals, so I want to ask you all what do you think of this cross? Is it a valid one? And if so, is there a possibility to research the number (2065)? How many are there in total awarded? I would like to thank you in advance for your time and effort and I am looking forward to an experts opinion!
  7. This one from Nick Morigi (sold as a copy) is pretty close to the type formerly thought to be by Meybauer.

  9. Some time ago another forum member asked me what do I think about this badge, I have no doubt it's not original regardless of what the seller wrote. Link to auction: Kingdom of Yugoslavia Submarine Bagde Original SILVER
  10. Hello. Please could I start by stating I have no idea how to detect fake or genuine amongst these group of medals. Reason being I am offered the collection but at my decision ,and to be perfectly honest unsure due to different to what I normally collect. or should I steer clear and leave alone ? value or price guide would be helpful also either individually or as part of collection . also note the seller has cleaned all the patina from each individual medal . thank you in advance .
  11. Hi guys, Does anyone know if these are really or simply fakes or fantasies? Any help would be highly appreciated. Cheers, Alain
  12. Guys, I got quite excited when a pal told me a friend at work had an above described badge and it was in the family etc, etc, etc. He is a good lad so I will let him down gentley! The box is laughable and even the staple is a picture as opposed to metal. I don't know why they have cut the grass so to speak but it is quite obvious in the hand. Oh well!
  13. I stopped collecting Soviet orders and medals because the hobby was ruined by fakes. It's going the way of the German WWII/NAZI militaria. You have to be crazy to get into that today. Even the "experts" are fooled. So my question is: Has anyone run across a fake Paul McDaniel COA certificate yet with a questionable order/medal? I figure it's not a matter of if, but when. I don't collect, but I do read up on the very little items I have left. Now that Paul has closed his authenticating business years ago, where would someone go to get something authenticated? Thanks.

  17. Dear Friends, I have been lucky to be able to find and get the biggest collection of Soviet awards ever collected in Finland. The person who built this collection started buying Soviet material already in 1980's and when Iron Curtain was lift off, he did it heavily. As we know, good quality fakes approached very quickly, but in 1991/1992 they were not yet available. As I go deeper in to these files I may be able to track the year where certain items have been sold (as originals of course), but I also ask your help with the authenticity of some items. I will post now some examples what I have got: I would be grateful for all the comments, 1.) The Order for the service to the Homeland in the armed forces of USSR. 2nd class with award booklet for all three classes. Looks good! All the best, Janihttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2014/post-1035-0-06917500-1397558745.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2014/post-1035-0-13373400-1397558699.jpg
  18. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THESE TINNIES ARE RARE OR FAKES? I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY OTHERS FOR SALE OR DISPLAY ANYWHERE. ALL ARE HOLLOW PUNCHED OUT WITH CRISP REVERSE DETAIL ON THE BACK I HAVE ONLY BEEN COLLECTING FOR 10 YEARS, SO NOT A LOT OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THEM THANKS RON
  19. Of course every major auction sells fakes now and then. Intentionally or because of "an honest oversight" But this time it is something surreal. Both in qualitative and in quantitative terms Kunker. September 2015 Etc ...
  20. I Just bought A Thai Order of the Crown; Commander's - Type 1 maker marked J.W. BENSON Ltd 25, Old Bond St. London W from website but it made from copper I'm not sure it fake of not please help me identify of this medals Best regards Jack
  21. Hello all, It's been awhile since I was on here, out of the game these days for the most part. I've attached photos of what I understand to be an Imperial Russian badge. I'm guessing this is a regimental badge or similar, but despite searching on here and online generally I've been unsuccessful at finding an exact match. Can anyone help? I am out of my depths here, but am aware that these are a real minefield as far as reproductions go. I don't know what kind of a chance this one has at being genuine...personally I don't get the "warm fuzzies". These are the only photos I have at the moment...I can probably get some more. I'd appreciate any help you may be able to offer. Cheers, Adam
  22. Please be careful dear colleagues. These are everywhere ...
  23. Has anyone ever encountered a bejeweled Osmanieh order like that? I wonder about the imperfections on the golden border, visible on the reverse...
