  1. Can anyone help me on identify if this is a WWI model or WWII? Was this model atributed to military personnel? Thanks Peron
  2. Hello guys, can someone tell me, if these medals are originals or not? And what would be their price? Regards Jan
  3. The War Museum of Thessaloniki should be a must for collectors of Greek decorations as it has a very large display of Greek orders and medals organised as a reference catalogue. The Order of the Redeemer The Order of George I The Order of George I with swords The Order of Welfare The Order of the Phoenix (with and without swords) The Royal House Order of Saints George and Constantine The Royal House Order of Saints Olga and Sophia The Order of Honour
  4. Hello guys, I have decided to improve my small Greek collection. Can you advice some Greek dealers? Thanks. Jan
  5. Good afternoon gentlemen, I need your help to identify these Greek decorations which I believe are not officials. Cheers Bill
  6. I wish I could show you a nice enameled class of the cross, but all I have is the Commemorative Medal of the Royal Order of George I 3. Class. The Order's cross grades were only awarded to officers; so, NCOs, soldiers, and junior civil officials received the medal in three class (gold, silver, bronze). Associated with the monarchy and first awarded 1915-1924 and then 1935-1973. This is probably a later version.
  7. Please help to identify.. Is it official award? Thank you in advance.
  8. I´ve just bought a greek bar that comes with some papers and photographic documents of the owne. IMHO, Antiestrategos is like General of division, (in Spanish Army,- I don´t know if this is Lieutenant General in Britain-...) The medals seems to corespond pretty well with the service bar the owner bear in the photos....Only, the "For Bravery " cross seems to sew to the bar as an aftertought....??. The medal lost seems the Phoenix order , that in the bar (rossette) seems be officer class...¿?, Some ideas and help about this bar will be wellcome.... Thanks beforehand Miguel PS/ It seems that the general has retired in 1979...as I own their jubilee officers club card with this date and their born date is: 1923, (59 years??) at Koronis-Nautoy-Cycladic (islands??)
  9. Hello, I need some information related to the Greek Order of Benevolence (also known as Order of Beneficience, Order of Welfare) It is a ladies only award and comes in various classes. I am particularly interested in the Gold Cross grade. Are there two versions of this order? As I have come across one that has ribbon more peach to beige in color and Petals of the flower are not navy blue, it is showing a lighter blue; also clothes of baby Christ are in white (very faint light blule). I have found other more recently made orders with a yellowish orange ribbon, dark blue petals of the flower and blue clothes for baby christ. Could the peach ribbon either be a older version of the order, or faded color (faded by time) ? Here is an example similar to the one I am interested in, I took the image of one that recently sold on ebay: Thank you for your help With Regards, Igor
  10. I have received the following E-mail from Colin Parr. Having visited the museum it is a very well set out user friendly museum which deserves help and I wonder if any member has any such ribbon spare Hello I wonder whether you might be able to help me with six inches of ribbon for the WW1 Greek War Cross? The ribbon is black with a blue stripe running down the outer edge of the black ribbon. Appreciate any help. Thank you regards Colin Parr If so could they sed it to Colin at The Keep Museum, Bridport Rd, Dorchester, Dorset DT1 1RN All the best, Paul
  11. Does anyone have an accurate identification of this medal? I can't find it in any of my sources on Greek medals.
  12. Gentlemen, I recently obtained a group to a courtier or officer from the time of Haile Selassie - probaly the later years of his rule - see topics in the Africa and Northern Europen forums. I attach an image of the Greek award. My knowledge of Greek awards is negligible and I would be grateful if any members of the forum could provide any detail concerning this award. Are there variations which can identify any particular issue/type/variation or period during which the medal could have been awarded? Many thanks and festive greetings from Riyadh. Kind regards, Owain
  13. Dear fellow collectors, Since many years I am desperate to find a Democratic Army of Greece (DSE) cap badge (like the one showed in the picture attached). I am sure everybody knows about the DSE, but in case not, it was the communist army founded after the end of WWII which participated (and lost) the Greek Civil War (which erupted after a mass persecution of ex communist partisans and the start of armed clashes between communist and monarchist-british forces) I am also researching wether the DSE produced any other type of cap badges for its trrops. In this photo it is clearly possible to see a communist partian wearing the cap badge I am so desperately looking for, . Until now I did not find any information in support of the thesis that ither DSE hat badges exist, but I am open to any comments about that! Any comment or remark would be much appreciated! Thank you. Best, GC
  14. Dear members, this is a Grand Cross star of the Greek Order of the Redeemer. very well manufactured-probably made between 1900-1920. The hallmark on the back needle is 935, without any other hallmarks. My guess is that the manufacturer is from Germany, Austria or Switzerland (it doesn't look like other Huguenin Redeemers, though). If anyone has a clue about the manufacturer, it would be appreciated.
