BURGERHAUS
Gents Here is my example of this badge. Would there be any others out there and if so would the markings be the same? Robert [attachmentid=49294][attachmentid=49295]
Gold Party Pin Guy
The best I can do is the NSAO, which I think is a NS successor organization to the GAO. Same maker. Edited August 10, 2006 by Gold Party Pin Guy
--dj--Joe
GDAO[attachmentid=49552]Reverse is a match for both previously posted items.--dj--Joe
Scowen
With Robert's permision, I've changed the name of this thread to encompass the various names this organisation took. While I'm here I'll also add an explanation of those abbreviations for anyone who doesn't know this group of badges.This/these organisation(s) were concerned with workers who had suffered industrial injuries or accidents. Originally known by the name Nationalsozialisticher Reichsverband der deutschen Arbeitsopfer (National Socialist Association for Work Victims), it was soon redsignated to Gesamtverband Arbeitsopfer (United Association of Work Victims). It then changed it's name once more, this time to Gesamtverband deutscher Arbeitsopfer (United Association of German Work Victims), then finally to Deutscher Arbeitsopfer Versorgung (German Work Victims Welfare)CheersDon
--dj--Joe
Don, I appreciate the explanation of the abbreviations. While awareof the changes I never got around to an in depth look at why. Thanks, --dj--Joe
Jock Auld
Guys, Just been going through my tin boxes and rediscovered these pair, sadly one has a broken pin. Gave me an excuse to play with my new usb microsope thing. Jock:)
Scowen
Welcome to the forum Jock. Thank you for bringing this thread to the top again & for posting your badges. Is it an just an illusion or is one of the badges larger than the other? In your first picture they look different sizes, but in the next they seem the same.... I'll dig out some pictures of the examples that I have picked up since this thread was created & post them later. Cheers Don
Jock Auld
Don, It is just my poor photography, they are both leaning to one side and the camera was closer to one of them, sorry! Regards Jock:)
Scowen
I suspected as much, but wanted to check just in case. Thank you for posting them though. I'll dig my images out later.... Cheers Don
Scowen
Sorry for the delay, I never seem to get 5 minutes to myself these days.... Firstly here is a pic of the set.
Scowen
NSAO. Marked to Deschler. I believe that there is another manufacturer variant for these but I haven't tracked one down yet
Scowen
GDAO, also Deschler
Scowen
GAO, Deschler once again
Scowen
And the real tough one of the group to find, DAOV made in Aluminium & marked to Ferd Wagner, Phorzheim....
Scowen
Now the above DOAV is the usual version marked to Wagner, however there are Deschler marked pieces around, much harder to find. The differences are noticable, less blackening to the obverse to bring out the highlights & the pin plate is held on by aluminium extrusions through holes in the plate. Unusually for Deschler, the maker mark is raised rather than impressed.
Jock Auld
I like the Wagner, seem like a finer design and strike with the detail on the leaves and the less chunky cogwheel.I will keep my eyes peeled!CheersJock:)
Scowen
I'm glad that you like them Jock. I remembered this morning that I also have a membership card for the NSAO.... Cheers Don
Pagan
Hi Don Your DAOV is the first one I have seen in the badge type, I have been looking for one for a long time. This badge is so hard to find it didn't even appear in the book Labor Organisations of the Third Reich. The membership card is a beauty as well
BURGERHAUS
Here are my 2 examples side by side. Both Deschler. PS I have located a Wagner DAOV but I'm thinking 100 Euros is too high? Edited August 14, 2013 by BURGERHAUS
Scowen
A couple of nice pieces there Robert, thank you for posting them. Cheers Don

Pagan
I am a patient man apparently. The DAOV I have been looking for, for a longtime. The family is now complete. I know a couple of these are a bit rough, but that's the way I like my stuff.
