Chris Boonzaier Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Is this a pionier? and what does a knife like that cost nowdays?
Brian Wolfe Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Hi Chris,I purchased one of these a few years back for around $75.00 and traded it off last year for a value of $300.00 Canadian. I'm sure they are worth all of that plus.I was told that these were issued to pioneer regiments and used in either Austria or Brazil (probably both). An old catalog of the 1960s from a large arms dealer in Florida lists this as Austrian. This is the first one I've seen worn in a photo. Nice photo.CheersBrian
Josef Rietveld Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 It is a Faschinenmesser f?r Pioniertruppen Modell 1862. I add picture of mine, made arround 1917/18 whem leather became rarer and rarer and they used canvas instead.the leather pieces rank between 200 and 300 USd, canvas is much rarer.haynau
