I have a mate with 2 of these medals one of the early examples and one of the later WW2 issue, both cased and in good condition. He bought them years ago and has no idea of value now, I want to buy them from him at a fair price, not full on expensive dealer price but not ebay bargain basement either.. just a good fair price. Can anyone help me give him a fair offer? He trusts me 100% on this so I want to be fair, maybe even show him your answer to check for himself.

I normally sell these for between $240 and $280, depending on condition and age. The Meiji era pieces are worth more than the Showa pieces.
