ERIC Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Hi All, Ole Lady Luck seems to have smiled upon me this past weekend. I have been looking for one of these for some time and while surfing the 'net the past Thursday I found another piece for the collection. I snapped her up rather quickly and the seller shipped promptly, arriving today! Not mint, but a sweet "been there" 2nd model of the Juncker 1st Pattern ROAG. For some odd reason I really like this one. Here she is...
Bob Lyons Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Dang, you take great photos Eric !!Congrats on your latest beauty too!Bob
J Temple-West Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 A very nice example of a comparatively rare badge, Eric Most of these ?2nd pat? of the ?1st pat? badges, I?ve seen, have been in aluminium. I suspect that there was a short production run using this eagle and very few were made.If I may, here?s the sister to you badge, also in buntmetal.
Richard Gordon Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 EricI don't know why but what's up with the detail around the eagles head? It looks very soft and undetailed! Any i've seen are super-sharp and highly detailed.Having said that, the overall badge looks correct. Noting the double striking of the MM perhaps the over-zealous employee destroyed the detail in attempting to mark it?Close-up of mine...Rich
ERIC Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 Thanks fellas! I appreciate the comments. Well Bob, I think I got lucky with the pics as well - normally mine pale in comparison when put up against some of the other members 'professional' shots! Hey John, yours is a real beauty! As you say, comparatively rare, that's why I picked her up. Not the greatest condition-wise, but she's bona fide and fills a hole. Slim pickens' here in the states. @ Rich - don't know what happened around the head area mate, it just simply looks like wear, but your theory seems plausible. The head area appears to be the most worn part of the badge, along with the wing ridge and the drumstick/talons. These are the highest points on the eagle. Here's another pic of the head area at a slightly different angle. The fletching is there, but worn. (soft appearance) Also, in this closeup, notice the telltale wreath fissures.ERIC
