    Recommended Posts

    Lieber Stefan,

many thanks for sharing the scans of that rare medal with us  .

Do you have any further informations about that medal - who got it, for which deeds, etc. ?

    Liebe Gr??e

    Christian

Christian, as always with Yugoslav medals - nur sp?rliche Informationen! :banger:

My only resource is Nenad?s book: Yugoslavia Army Insignia & Decorations 1918 - 1990

All I know is that there were also two types, FNRJ and SFRJ.

    Hello Stefan Hello Christian

the medal was instituted in 1955 as the text says for "merits in fullfilling the duty and response which helps to establish friendly relationship in between the Federative National Republik Jugoslavia and other states"

As the name of the Republich changed in 1963 so the inscription on the medal changed too and it from then on says "Socialist Federative Republic Jugoslavia".

The medal was awarded from the beginning up to 1985 only 845 times mostly to administrativ-technical personel of foreign delegations visiting the country

Your variant (badly for you) is the SFRJ version thus post 1963, the FNRJ is VERY VERY rare and hard to find, the price is also almost 10 times higher thus in the 400-500 EUR region.

The medals have been made of tombac and then silvered and was made in Zagrb by IKOM.

    Best regards

    Milan

For this price I can understand that this medal is faked. Which other yugoslavian medals are widely faked? I haven't heard about fake yugoslavian medals before!

I saw some very, very bad copies of the JNA/SFRJ submarine badges!

Truly a very rare medal and definitly a great addition to your collection. I assume the case itself is also quite rare.

Anyway last one I saw was sold only for 65 euros on a auction and I had a chance to buy one a year or so ago for about 150 euros. Unfortunetly I don't know the difference between FNRJ and SFRJ types. Can someone post a picture???

    Milan,

thank you Milan, I was on your homepage today - respect.

I thought you are collecting only Kingdom.

I hope that it's original and not a fake. What do think about conditions of this medal?

Do you know how many SFRJ and FNRJ Medals exists or where could we get informations?

    Hi Waldemar

Thanks for the nice words  about my collection !

Looking at the pictures from ebay I would say that it is a perfect original medal, for being 100% sure I would have to take it in my hands. Yes I switched to Kingdom only after I had a almost complete "communistic" collection, I was missing only the order of freedom and 2 or 3 varieties of the other orders otherwise I WAS complete, most of them boxed and some documents. About 2 years ago I have sold the complete lot. :speechless1:

I was looking at all my documentation I had with me at home and could not find anything else than the number of all contributed orders. There could be one more book which I have in my office where maybe it could have some details of the pre 63 period. I will be back in my office by tuesday and will have a look then.

    regards

    Milan

PS joining a picture from my former collection
