    Last find at today's show was a M1944 (issued 1945-53) Communist Youth membership pin made at the "Victory" factory (right). The other manufacturer of this short-lived pattern was the Tscherbinsky Factory of Metallic Notions (!)-- on left maker marked "Tsch Z"

    Note the much more translucent "strawberry" enamel of the trinkets-shop made badge, and much finer detail of star rays.

    No clue why the "KIM" monogrammed model of 1922-44 turns up so rarely. Most commonly found are the "Lenin Head" version of 1953-91. The M1944 should be the rarest, with only 8 1/2 years in use.

    Here is a photo attested 15 January 1955 showing air force engineer Technical Lieutenant Ivan Baznyak wearing the outdated M1944 Komsomol badge:
