    Possible identification?

    Recommended Posts

    Gentlemen,

Knowing of my interest in militaria (Imperial German and Soviet orders and decorations), a neighbor asked if I might be able to identify the dagger shown below. Guessing that it is post 1918 German, the best that I could do was to place it somewhere between one of Goering?s many daggers and a 1950?s souvenir. If anyone here has any ideas, your thoughts would be very appreciated.

    Thank you in advance,

    Looks like real damascus.

It is a hunting knife... civilian... possibly custom made. Not anything "organizational"

Hard to say on the initial, since the projecting funny upright's ends are stylized deer hooves, I think... so it could be the owner's initial "W" or "M."
