Chuck In Oregon Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I was pretty pleased to come across this group a couple of months ago. Two photos and two badges. The first photo. I know her only as "Nurse Bedia".
Chuck In Oregon Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 (edited) Here's her badge. I believe it is "St. Nadezhda Society of Sisters of Mercy" ... "Tiflis Hospital". Edited December 1, 2007 by Chuck In Oregon
Chuck In Oregon Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 This gentleman is said to be her brother. I know him only as "Pilot P. Bedia".
Chuck In Oregon Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 (edited) Here's his attributed badge. I think it is a "First Squadron, KKA Air Fleet" badge. On the reverse is engraved Military AviationT. P. BediaSep. 5 1924This badge is said to have been presented to recognize his efforts in quelling the last major White rebellion in Georgia in 1924. His work? Said to have bombed "rebel villages". Not a nice thing to imagine.Regardless, I hope you enjoy these badges.Chuck Edited May 20, 2008 by Chuck In Oregon
Ed_Haynes Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks, Chuck. If these things and these images could speak . . . But, then, it is our joyful task to give them whatever voice they can now enjoy, almost a century along . . .
Guest Rick Research Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Little jewels like this never cease to amaze me Chuck. How on earth did the artisans who made luxury trinkets for the wealthy manage to survive all the "class enemy" purging?Yet they did. Something, even in the ruthless, pitiless depths of the blackened Bolshevik psyche somehow recognized beauty, and passed those doorways by.Aside from the change in designs, the QUALITY went right on as if nothing had happened.
