    Hello Everyone,

I was looking at a Medal for Valour today and noticed that it had no serial number on the reverse. All of the ones that I've managed to find on the forum are numbered. The medal looks like it has been around long enough and the ribbon is correct and also shows age wear.

What is your opinion? Are all Medals for Valour numbered?

    Cheers

Around 1947 the Soviets stopped numbering Bravery and Military Merit Medals. Of the approximately 4.5 million Bravery Medals awarded by 1991, almost 3.8 million were numbered.

Thank you Ferdinand. I am new to Soviet medal collectingn and was not sure. Now I feel better about trying to add it to my growing collection.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers

With an unnumbered one, without its Medals Book, you can never tell if it was never issued, or for a later war.

And even with the document, you can never tell if that one matched with the book. Provenence and trust? Maybe both are in short supply these fading days of Babylon?
