Hi all,

Not sure on where to post these questions so drew straws and here they are.

My ancestors were in the Prussian army and recieved the Iron Cross (supposedly) for valour in the Franco Prussian war in 1870. How do I find out if this is true????

Secondly my some of my ancestors were Privy Counicllors to Prince Frederick III (supposedly). Again how do I find information on Prussian nobility?

Thanks all

Thanks for your kind words Joel. :D

Ancestors last name: von Schramm it became this in 1564 when Sebastian Schrome saved the life of the emperor.

Being Prussian/german it is so hard to know where to start looking to verify all this information.

Thanks Mike. Where do I find this information myself??

I bought a CD of the 1914 German Ranklist from Paul Chepurko. He has several that he sells. I thought they were listed somewhere here on GMIC but all I could find was some from WW2. His e-mail is ranglisteoncd@optonline.net he can tell you what he has available and the prices.
