Kev in Deva Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Hallo Noor, I am always very weary of personalized E.K.'s,just far to many fantasy / junk / replicas out there to trap the unwary. With regards your piece, it seems a very half-hearted attempt to personalizea very common item, the ss engraving seems to be an afterthought.Kevin in Deva.
Stogieman Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I think this is a junk copy, made to deceive collectors. Sorry!

Kev in Deva Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Hallo Noor, I hate to be a wet blanket but I still doubt this piece is a good one.The quality of the engraving is very poor, particularly with s.s. runes,it looks like they were marked on with felt tip pen, and lightly scribed over. There are far to many W.W. 2 engraved pieces turning up on the market with poor quality engraving and dedication, as for myself, the question must be asked, why only s.s. and not the particular s.s. military unit title (even abbreviated?)Kevin in Deva.
Brian Wolfe Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I am very unknowledgable in the area of German of any era, however, I have a little knowledge of engraving. This looks like it was done with an electric 'graver and not a hand graver. Wouldn't the time period and indeed the fact it is an EK I warrant the use of the hand held manual engraving tool? Perhaps I am incorrect about the tool used but it "feels" wrong to me. Cheers Brian
VonBierStein Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I agree it is a piece of junk. Jusy looknig at the cross says it all. I never get anything with odd looking engravings such as this. My opinion is to just stay away and use your money on somthing that you know is correct.
