I was so overwhelmed by the Aladdin's cave of treasure that my friend brought by to Epsonize yesterday that I neglected to MEASURE this :speechless: before it and all the other goodies went away, but I'd say offhand it is about 45 mm high. I'd guess it is off a General level Prussian civil servant's full dress epaulette.

It'd make a lovely Yacht Club blazer patch! :cheeky:

Aside from the sheer beauty of this, what I thought was worthwhile sharing it for is how the underside shows it was made-- something we would normally never SEE.

Massive massive massive coily buliion springs hanging off a banjo shaped board.

Closest I can come pictorially are army generals--

VERY nice, Uwe! Yours look exactly the size this loose one is, so it was only some lowly Amtsrat, after all!

The rules of heraldry require birds on the shoulders to face forwards. The biggest mistake about that, oddly enough, was the sleeve eagle used by the Waffen SS!

Actually, the former color of the cloth (which is now mostly eaten away) was carmine, so perhaps he was an Apoteker.
