landsknechte
Does anyone have any idea what maker's mark this might be? (Apologies for the poor quality of the photos, they are the seller's not mine. Until I get it in hand, it's the best I can do.)
Guest IMHF
Does anyone have any idea what maker's mark this might be? (Apologies for the poor quality of the photos, they are the seller's not mine. Until I get it in hand, it's the best I can do.)It looks like an old hunters knife??? Rich Yankowski
Don't know what it is,but I doubt it's a WKC mark.Every WKC mark I've seen has the shoulder nearest the crossquard, not the helmet's crown.

Rich Yankowski
The mark does look like a helmet, but it appears to face right. The Knight's head used by Kirschbaum and WKC faces left,so I doubt they made it.
--dj--Joe
It is a recognized mark (has been observed on other dress bayonets), but to my knowledge the maker remains unknown.--dj--Joe
Jim P
Much better picture,it is an unknown distributors mark as dj joe has said. the mark is also sometimes accompanied by the initials W.F.R below it.Jim
Denny Gaither
Sorry to be so late to this party. You might find this thread of interest.Although this mark is more than likely a distributor's marking, it could also be a manufacturer's logo. Until actual documentation is found, I would prefer to keep an open mind. http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc...8735#4920098735
Billy G
Jim,I think the letters that accompany this logo are "WFP", Denny's got a nice one, mine's got a mint blade but the grip plates are deteriorated in an unusual way that's sometimes seen on the early wood type plates.
