    Hi Guys,

What do you think of this bird?

From which nest did it fall?

    (who produced this bird?)

    Thanks

    regards

    CHE

P.S. The wreath and the back-side of the badge I'll show later,

because I'd like it to be a little intrigue ...

    Good morning, Che.

I love a bit of intrigue!

I have no idea who the maker is. It does not match any maker that I know of.

I'll make a guess.... It is marked with a Juncker maker mark and is attached to a 'round wreath'.

    Could it be so?

    Good evening!

We have a big time difference, thats why I'm answering with a delay.

No, it's not Juncker and I don't believe in badge with a round wreath.

This badge is made from zink and it has a standart oval wreath.

    Any more opinions?

It was an extraodinary find in Germany!

This is what was with this badge too.

    Hi Che,

Also a mystery for me too, doesn't match any known pilot eagle.

My guess would be Deschler. I see some saw cuts in the eagle's talons, which is very characteristic of other war badges by Deschler (CCCs in particular). Also, the pebbling of the eagles talons reminds me of Deschler IABs.

    Hi Tom,

Thank you for your oppinion, but Deschler have never made the LW badges(known until today).

Such eagle's talons is very characteristic for one of the standart LW-makers.

    Any more oppinions?

    Hi Che,

I know that Deschler never made LW badges that we know of, that is why I am so mystified by this bird. I cannot recall any maker with talons like this.

B&NL AG/RO badges have pipples on the talons, but I can think of no other.

Please reveal the reverse of this badge, it is literally killing me!!!

    No, it's not B&N L...

Please wait, I'm going to kill several collectors for one shot!

    Any more opinions?

P.S. I'll reveal the reverse and wreath of this badge on Sunday.

I've checked my pilot badge references, and I can't find an example of that eagle. Initially, I thought the bird might be from a plaque or a flag pole top. But CHE has stated it's from a badge, so the reveal should be interesting...

    Tom

No, I have a generous russian soul!

And I'm showing a wreath now, one day before the official publication.

Any more opinions now, sir Tom?

    Spasiba, Che

    Paul Meybauer wreath??

The reverse shot should be interesting.

    I'm Still sceptical I'm afraid.

    Hi John,

Oh, if my English was as good as your Russian!

Yes, you are absolutely right. This wreath was made by Paul Meybauer.

The wreath hasn't been worn at all, the same is for eagle.

Traditionally on the zink wreath and on the zink eagle the surfacing hasn't been saved.

An eagle and a wreath have slightly different types of colours, because the surfacing was different, of course.

    Hi Gentlemans,

    So, what do we have.

There's an items reverse. An item hasn't been worn at all.

Pay attention on the clips. On the wreath we can find a special depressions for them.

The clips and depressions are characterised for this maker.

Pay attention on the flattens of the needle - it's characterised for this maker, too.

And the base of the catch, which has different-sized sides.

    Pay attention on the hook.

It has been soldered without a base, which is characterised for the later production of this maker.

    Dear Gentlemans,

We have all the evidence given.

We have lots of different badges (and images)

from different makers and we are able to compare them.

So, who's the maker of this badge?

    Best regards, CHE

    Hi CHE,

    Very interesting indeed.

OK, the wreath is a match to Meybauer's Para wreaths. Also, Maybauer rivets are usually recessed like this. And, the most conclusive for me is the offset hinge, where the barrel sits on 1 side of the little base more than the other side, which is also a typical feature of Maybauer barrel hinges.

I am still wondering why there is absolutely no finish left at all, why it was never marked and why Meybauer didn't use a catchplate on this catch. That is NOT typical of Meybauer, especially not their para badges, they usually used a round catchplate IMO.

Generally, I like the look of it.
