    Hello,

i`d like to hear your opinions about this oaks to the iron cross 2.cl. 1870.

It is a non magnetic piece.

    Regards,

    Oliver

It's somewhat different than the examples in my collection, but isn't any fake I know of. There were many variations of these.

    Oh...that`s a lot...

So, what do you think of the one i`ve shown ?

    Regards,

    Oliver

From the sharpness of detail I'd be inclined to give it a thumbs up. Most fakes I've seen were a bit "fuzzy".

It looks good to me, although these are very hard to say because they were all essentially "private purchase." Holders of the Iron Cross were authorized to wear them, and they simply went and bought them, so there are many many variants.

Non-magnetic is generally not relevant in this case, as most were made of silver or silvered brass. But, at the risk of changing the subject, I wouldn't say it's impossible. I have seen an entire 1870 Iron Cross 2nd class that was magnetic - even the frame!
