Ed_Haynes
If you want help, an image might make something possible. And if you believe it is "Turkish" (I assume you mean Ottoman?) why post it in the Austria-Hungary section?

Elmar Lang
I think it's a French badge or a French-style badge of an arab country. Most possibly, post-1945.Best wishes,Elmar Lang

Ed_Haynes
I would fully agree:-- Not Austro-Hungarian (who ever thought it was?!)-- Not Ottoman (or even Turkish)-- Probably French colonial, I'd guess from Tunisia or Algeria
noir 7
thanx again sorry for the blank. It's the badge of a french cavalry and recce regiment of the "arm?e d'Afrique": 3? r?giment de spahis alg?riens (~3rd Algerians Spahis Regiment), which was called from 1945 to 1946 "3? r?giment de spahis alg?riens de reconnaissance" (~3rd Algerians Recce Spahis Regiment). In the "spahis", most of the officiers and NCOs were French and the majority of the troopers were indigenous (from Algeria, Tunisia or Marocco: they were in different regiments).
