Guest Rick Research Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 (To be retitled if and when straightened out! )I'm sure this will be perfectly obvious afterwards. Now? "General Graf SCRIBBLE"Even at 500% I don't recognize this St. George Order shaped cross with crossed swords (or Slugs Rampant... or some other sort of creatures?) between the arms--Could it be as obvious (but seemingly unlikely) as a Prussian Red Eagle Order 2nd Class with Swords? Sole "clues" are that he too is from the Nassau refugee von Boos-Waldeck family's album of Cartes de Visite in Bohemia in the 1860s.Since everyone in uniform therein was EITHER Austrian OR Nassauer... presume the latter. (?)
TacHel Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Just a shot in the dark, my German is a bit rusty...You might want to look up the name: Thrien (also Von Thrien). It's a popular name in Germany and Austria and I do believe that's what is written there.
